I’m in the process of REALLY trimming the fat on my setup. I have used the manfrotto mvh500ah head a lot but it’s heavy. I owned a Manfrotto befree for a short time but it wasn’t all that smooth. I may deal with it though.

    I’m running a G40 and a pretty lightweight monitor.

What are some good options? I pack a stand and sticks 95% of the time. I need a lighter setup than I’ve been using even if I sacrifice some quality

I went from the 500AH to the BeFree head awhile back and glad I did.. Mine is smooth as butter on a 4th arrow stiff arm.. Granted I don't run a monitor.. G30 with Rode videomic...

I sold a Manfrotto 501HD head last month and just ordered the BeFree head a couple hours ago... I'm hoping it's the combination I'm looking for (Manfrotto quality in a much slimmer/smaller design)

Honestly, the new Fourth Arrow fluid head is pretty nice. It reminds me a lot of my old Manfrotto 701hdv in function, size and weight. A little smaller and lighter than my MVH500AH. Uses the same Manfrotto plates, and does a nice job of leveling out.

I've lightened my setup this year, going from the Stiff Arm Pro to the new Carbon Arm 3.0 and replacing the MVH500AN with the Fourth Arrow Fluid Head.
