Some of you know that im pursuing a career in the Fire Service, and i appreciate the advice from my fire buds on here (cfdjay, In Da Woods, Mobow). Well as an update, i would like to say that i passed my EMT National Registry, and also became an Ice Rescue Technician this weekend. Some small steps ive taken to reach my goal. Stay safe out there guys :D
Thats awesome Caleb! Congrats! Next year in college i am going to take classes in wildland firefighting......I'm stoked congrats again!
I dont have any "wildland fire" training whatsoever, But i have been on some large grass/brush fires. Its humbling to put out a 3 acre blaze with a broom
Congrats, siman It takes a special kid of person for this kid of service, so thank you up front and be safe. as a kid my old family home caught fire ....twice about 10 years apart and very scary deal first time i was about 7 and then 17 both at night and both flu fires. nothin like standing in the yard in your underwear.
Chimney fires are common around here, especially with the economy the way it is. People are scrimping and saving and putting off the "non-necessities" (such as paying a chimney sweep). Its not worth losing a home. I hope everything turned out alright for your family.
It's great to know that their are still younger people out there that feel a sense of service. Thanks for keeping that spirit alive Caleb, it's refreshing.
Well congrats Caleb Thats awesome and I appreciate all you guys do in your jobs. I have been through a fire myself in 05, I have seen it first hand.
Congrats Hoss...I decided to play a little college ball as opposed to going that route...but several family members are pretty high up. I have had the yearning to go for it the last year or so. I am going for my EMT liscense soon, and may leave my place of employment in the very near future.
