thats a great pickup for that price.
Nice score congrats!
On those older Lone Wolf stands with the "cleat" built into the back of the seat you didn't need the offset bracket, or the v-bracket. However the problem I always had with them was when you put the seat up, the stand comes slightly dislodged from the tree. My recommendation would be to stick a newer style offset bracket on there, install the 2nd versabutton with a 2nd strap on the bottom and call it day.
The next version of LW after this did use the V-bracket on the back of the stand. They had those for a few years until the offset bracket came out. I still have a few LW stands that I got 7 or 7 years ago with the V-bracket and they work fine.
If you really feel industrious you can pick up a seat kit to convert to the newer, larger seat with the leveling adjustment on it.
This is the seat kit here - Lone Wolf Treestand Seat Kit - Lone Wolf Stands
Although by the time you change the seat, bracket and versabutton your $65 stand just became a $150 stand so I'm not sure it's totally worth it. Up to you.
Thanks for the input Justin! Do you know if I will be able to install the off set bracket on such an old stand?
Good for you. I need to find a used LW.
I believe you should be able to. As far as I know the width of the seat post hasn't changed on the Alpha Hang-On. So long as your tube is 1 1/4" wide you should be good to go.
Scratch that contacted lonewolf they told me my current seat would not work with the offset bracket, but I could use Ez hang strap or the cleat on the seat. On the verge of buying four sticks not sure we're the top half will set since it does not have Indentations like the newer models.
FWIW, IMHO if you have more than 3 sticks, strapping the sticks on sideways keeps the weight closer to your back and it feels lighter. That is how I do it. I rarely if ever use the indentations. just lay the sticks on their side and strap them down. Once you get to 4-5 sticks it just seems to stick too far out. I'd say the same for muddy sticks too.
Do you just use a bungy cord or the kwik straps from lw?
Ordered a versa button, 2ft kwik straps, back pack straps, stick caddy, and 4 sticks!!
I have done both, but rubber bungies do seem to hold them tighter and thus quieter, down side is that you can (will) lose them in the woods. Not a prob, when I lost mine I used the buckle straps form the top versa button.. Bungies work best IMO.
Fitz is right. Not a ton has changed so for the right price you are getting a great stand.
I always use a strap from a stick to attach them to the stand. There's no way you can get them tighter with a bungee.
Fitz I ordered the 2ft kwik straps I'm gonna have flip my sticks side ways because I do not have the seat with the indentations. Gonna have to get a back pack on there as well.
Once these sticks come in I'm gonna start climbing trees daily lol
One last thing I've learned especially if youare put and take hunter...... invest $10-15 in a set of molle shoulder straps with quick release and perhaps even another $5-10 on a kidney belt..... you'll beable to carry as much as you want EZ. Goto ebay andyou'll find them. I won a set of shoulder straps ANDa kidneybelt for under $25 to mydoorabout two onths ago. LAst year I picked up a set of shoulder straps for $5with free shipping.
