Hello all, thanks for having me. Currently living in southern NM, but cut my teeth hunting whitetail in NW Arkansas. I’m shooting a 25 year old Hoyt Aspen great bow, but at 65 it’s getting harder each season to draw and hold steady. Draw weight is 70lbs with approximately 65% let off. I have been looking at upgrading I’ve shot Hoyt for over 40 years but I’m not married to them. I like the Mathew’s Lift 33, Hoyt Highline, and the Hoyt XXL I have a 31.5” draw length so my choices are few. Any experience with the bows I’ve mentioned would be appreciated, or suggestions of potential bows I have not
Welcome, I’d go shoot the ones in your wheel house and see what you like. 65% letoff is agressive, you will enjoy the newer bows. My buddy has a similar draw length and got the hoyt high line and he’s very happy with it. I seem to favor Hoyt’s tho, good luck in your new bow journey.
Welcome to the forum sir. I struggle to find anything bad about the Lyft besides price and components having to be designed for said bow only. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Welcome. I am in Clovis. Did you draw anything good for New Mexico? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the welcome! I’ll be hunting the first archery deer hunt Sep 1- Sep 24 in unit 21. Pretty good unit very rough terrain where I hunt so most hunters avoid it.
You’re right prices this day and age are crazy, one bow I didn’t mention is the Bear Resurgence XL. I don’t shoot 3D anymore so it would probably be just fine. I shot a Bear Kodiak back in the late 70’s other than being long and heavy it was a great bow. The Resurgence is under 4.5lbs and won’t break the bank, might need a little more tuning out of the factory than Hoyt or Mathews but would be affordable option.
First season archery elk. I struck out across the board for everything else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
