What's your favorite old bow? Today I spent 2-3 hours shooting my new rig (in my sig line.) I'd tuned it previously but hadn't spent the time to get the sight completely dialed in. Anyway I am also shooting a lot heavier arrow set up this season, so after I got the new Hotness all dialed in I settled down to get my old Mission Ballistic dialed in as well. I ended up shooting the old Mission for most of the time. It was just a blast to shoot. Smooth, fast. Quiet. I hadn't shot it much at all in like 4 seasons. Almost made me wonder why I ever "upgraded".
I had a similar experience last year when I had to sell my "good bow" and pulled out my old Jennings. Found out I could shoot it better than the Elite that had replaced it. Not all things marketed to us as progress and improvement actually are. Myself, I like the feel and simplicity of the single cam system but they are getting harder to find. The two that I have will probably be the two that I use for quite some time. Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
I shoot a Mathews now. However I must admit I had two Martin bows which I wish I had never gotten rid of. A Firecat and a Cougar. Those bows just felt right!
I guess mine would be my old Bear Polar LTD. It was my first compound bow, and I thought I was all that, because my buds still only had recurves. I also killed my first deer with a bow with it. After some years I gave it to a young neighbor, thinking he would get into the sport. He didn't, and I now regret doing that!!
A 2013 Bear Domain. I actually been looking on ebay lately to see if anyone has one for sale. That bow was so smooth and quiet.
My first compound was a used Martin Warthog. That thing weighed a ton, it had a solid oak riser. Held onto it for years and finally sold it at a rummage sale. Nice young guy wanted it but had a hard time coming up with the asking price. I cut the price and gave him some arrows to go along with it. Dont miss it, dont regret it and I hope the guy is still shooting deer with it
Earlier this year I bought a new Triax. I had been shooting a Heli-m and while I loved it I got the itch to get a new bow. The Triax is faster, quieter and there is less vibration, but I really miss the Heli-m. I had given it to my son-in-law, but he really wanted a Triax. He's bringing the Heli-m back his weekend and he can have the Triax. I want my Heli-m back.
I currently shoot a Mathews Halon 7... but I would have to say that my Mathews Z7 was most likely my favorite bow I have ever owned.
