Hi. I've been Hunting with a bow since the mid 60s. Over the years I have gone from a Bear Grizzly Recurve, to a Black Widow Takedown Recurve, to a High Country compound. I haven't hunted with a bow for 6-8 years now. My problems these days are that I have been grounded. Bad knees, Bad Back, Arthritis, ect... I hunted in various hunting clubs from the late 70s till now. My current club is high on a steep mountain. (Tough on an old guy) I'm going to return to hunting WMA. I have a very good and relatively flat WMA that's 35 miles from my house. Not many days for rifle hunting, but I can bow hunt from mid October till mid February. I'm probably going to buy a Crossbow. I know a lot of bow hunters don't like a Crossbow, but with me it's either give up bow hunting or buy a crossbow. 6 days of rifle hunting doesn't suit me. This year I checked and it was either raining, snowing or cold as hell on all six days. I'm past the days of sitting in the rain or cold to hunt... I look forward to reading everyone's post.
Welcome Steve. I share most all of your situation but started 10 years after you. I hang around here and live vicariously through the posts of the more active younger hunters. Not as much fun as actially getting out in a stand but still lots of fun.
