I just got into bow hunting this year(went through he safety course and have been researching on my own). My uncle has bow hunted for years and upon him hearing that i was interested in the sport he gave me a Bear Silver Magnum bow. Now i did some research on the bow and it seems to be about 30 years old(i believe it was made around 1982). It looks to be in fine condition but is it really safe and worth my time to have it inspected at a shop, have them put a new string on it and have it resized for me? Since it's such an older bow it makes me nervous to use considering that I am still so new to the sport. Any advice would be great. Thanks

If it is in good mechanical condition, Id say go for it. Get it checked out if your unsure. Make sure stings are ok and no cracked limbs, have the shop tune it to you. It would be a good cheap way into the sport. the deer wont complain about what you shoot them with. I shoot a recurve that is much older than that. :)
