Oh heck no! Not even if you paid us! Enjoy Colorado Dan, its great. Are you taking the first elk you get a shot at or holding out for a bull? Its amazing walking up to one of those huge things for the first time. Put a couple judo points or field tips in your quiver, lots of grouse out there and they definitely aren't the sharpest tools in the shed!
I'd like to hold out for a bull but first legal elk I see is getting an arrow! It would be nice to shoot a bull but this trip is for learning and the experience!
Dan, it is Absolutely KILLING me as it draws closer....I am hating that i can't go...there will be nothing stopping me from going the next time....nothing. Oh yeah, so you, Colby, Dave and BSA best plan on going again!
I may need a place to stay so if I come knocking you know what happened lol. I plan on doing it every other year. And I'd like to squeeze in some kind of hunt next year if possible.
Good man, take the first elk. You get a fishing license with your big game but would need to buy the small game. The last couple years I've brought my shotgun and if I was fortunate enough to tag an elk early, I bought an annual or one day small game and chased grouse.
Ok that's what I thought. Wanted to clarify first. Plan on drink a few brewskies on the river side and fish for a while!
Will's Elk camp is every other year, so that will work out fine. 2016 or bust! next year I will be hitting the Midwest with one or two of the boys from here.
I haven't followed the elk thread, but if it hasn't been mentioned, make sure you have some duct tape or leukotape with, and definitely wrap a little of it around a pencil or something to have in your day pack. If you feel a hot spot or blister coming on, get some tape on it right away. Nothing wrecks an elk trip quicker than a blister on your heal.
