Went out Friday for my last hunt before WI's 9 day gun season and saw 10 does up at the lease. Has three within bow range, the only problem is the lease is located in a buck only area of WI. Pulled my card from my camera and looks like as soon as we got the foot of snow up the the rut just stopped. Also I did get a wolf pic on my cam.

December first starts Ohio shotgun, but the wind is finely supposed to die down tomorrow and this guy will be spending the next several nights immobile in a treestand. Good luck to everyone. Ol' Dirty Tarsals aren't done yet!!

I'm not done yet, it's getting to be my favorite time of year to hunt. The madness of the rut is all but over and the bucks are almost predictable again....beyond the rare doe coming in the second time around, the bucks will be on a hard feed pattern for the next 6 weeks.

Didn't get to hunt as much as I would like last week of Oct first week of Nov..:( But I'm back to a 100% and ready to finish out this season strong, should get 8-10 more hunts in this year. Good luck guys!!!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Good luck to everyone hitting the woods - still some good hunting left! I've seen some pretty good deer movement in past years over Thanksgiving weekend...

Tried to play it low key over the last few days. Had some does come close but not quite close enough. I take my last final on the 13th and then I have a month of hunting with the rut kicking in down here. I should easily be able to get at least one doe down as I've really got them figured out now. Hope all y'all had a great thanksgiving and good luck to those of you still hunting!

Wasn't going to hunt tonight because I am drained but my wife and mom made me. It's the last weekend before gun season. I'm glad they did. More points on the board! Not the biggest but public land amd from the ground. Haven't killed a deer from a tree stand this year.

Thanks guys. It's been a long season so I'm very happy with him.

Story is that me and my buddy have been hunting some private land about half a mile from this corn field on public land. We've been seeing deer come out of this corner like crazy the last few sits and last night over 20 deer walked by this spot. My friend shot a buck last night and we tromped around alot on the private land so I wanted to let it sit.

I decided tonight I would go to the corner and see what happens. I was running late due to lunch taking a while and having to change a flat tire on my truck so I debated going. Well my wife and mom forced me to go since next weekend is gun opener.

I was there for about 30 minutes when I looked in the woods to my north amd saw a head and antlers. I knew I was going to shoot so when he went behind some trees I stood and waited for him to enter the field. He stepped out and started walking towards me. I drew when he got behind the last tree and waited for him to step out. As soon as he did he saw me and started to get nervous. I knew I had to shoot even though he was quartering to me decently. I'm shooting a 500 grain arrow and knew I could make the shot. Arrow hit perfect in front of the front leg amd lodged into the opposite shoulder. The broadhead poked out and I got over 12 inches of penetration. Went to the spot he was standing and blood everywhere. He ran 80 yards and piled up. Great blood trail the whole way.[IMG][IMG]

Awesome Dan! Very happy for you. You've been hunting hard and deserved it.

Did you ever find out if that giant that got hit a while back was found?

Never did. Hunted him for 2 weekends and he never showed. Hoping he's alive but I'm not sure. All the bucks I was after disappeared in October so it's been a tough season.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It felt good watching my arrow go where I wanted it! A thing of beauty!

Thanks guys. Went from being very high off this buck to hitting a big low today. Just got a text from my wife saying her mom died around 12. Glad I'm tagged out because my season is over. She won't call me on the phone or answer me so I know she's taking it hard. Prayers would be amazing right now.
