Checking in from Ohio. Names Jacob and also looking foreword to a good year. Season starts here September 27th, but I won't be able to hunt till a week or so latter do to my Honeymoon. Don't worry plenty of time will be spent in the woods like every other year!!
Pulled one trail camera card out of my 3 I have out tonight. This is the only buck on there, but it was only out for about 4 days. Not a shooter, but happy to see in the daylight!
Checking in. Season opens up Oct 4th. Looking forward to getting to know some of you guys and learning from others like VS and Gri22ly. Last year I was able to get a doe on the ground early and saw my biggest buck to date. No shooters have showed up on camera thus far but all I can do is keep preparing. Just put in a fall plot, have all my stands out, and gear ready. This year will be a little different in that I will be going out of my comfort zone to hunt public land. I'm just expecting to learn a lot more about deer movements and food sources, a public land buck would be a bonus.
I'm pumped that you're going on the elk hunt. Next September will be my first elk hunt and I'm already counting down the days. Can't wait to see you behind a bull.
We definitely need a kick butt team name soon so I can update my signature!!! Any suggestions from the team?
Nice to meet all of you guys. Brett here from Virginia. I am sure I will have plenty of questions for you guys as the season progresses. Feel free to share hunting maps/pics, and anything else that could help you get onto deer. We can all help each other. I am telling you guys, this team is going to be good.
My name is Craig from MN. I've been bowhunting about 20 years and try to balance that with pheasant hunting and a little fishing each fall. I've got 5 cameras out now and am getting anxious to check them out. I'll post some pics when I get them pulled. Two of the farms I hunt converted from long time CRP contracts back to corn this year, so it will be interesting to see how that changes things up. Brett, has team "kill" been used previous years?
A little bit about me... Name is Jason, I'm from south eastern SD... Married with 3 kids. IT manager for my full time job, also got a part time job that I spend about 15-20hrs a week at... I'm a bowhunting nut - or at least like to think I am :-) Normally I spend a bunch of time hunting deer in my home state and then try to do an out of state hunt too... Not sure how things will all shake out this year, I 'accidentally' drew 2 elk tags - WY & SD (drew the WY tag early and I wasn't really supposed to draw the SD tag - had tons of preference but even then it's a tough draw)... Also working on finishing the basement in our house right now for more living space for the family - so time if flying by - ha ha...
Solid bunch... yes Brett, Josh, Dan and Craig = bunch of good guys ??? Really ???? :p Tim ps.... KILL !!!
Man that sounds like a fun season. No stress on the deer hunting, I am sure you will get out there when the deer movement gets hot. Good luck.
