Went out this afternoon and just saw squirrels, but it was great just being in the woods.

Was out this morning in the rain. Red squirrels and birds, but like wibowhntr said "it was great just being in the woods."

Also had some encounters yesterday that just made it fun.

I decided to hunt on the ground at a piece of public. Had a black bear that was walking right toward me until I stood up. He got within 15-20 yards then took off. Also saw a spike and a 7.

I really wanted to go in a different area but muzzleloader season just came in and wasn't exactly sure who was where. Still a great day in the woods that I won't forget anytime soon.

Not to sure about using the climber yet...gonna try to get this afternoon for a ground hunt. Got a nice little thicket I can crawl up in right off a oak flat, wind could be better but "oh well" I'm iching to spend a little time in the woods.

Hey guys, what a great weekend it was. I hadn't been out in about two weeks and this weekend was the youth shotgun and a special early antlerless shotgun hunt, so although I knew there would be disturbance in the woods, I grabbed some orange and headed out. Friday night I had 12 does/fawns come in to a cornfield and I took the first adult doe that gave a me a shot. She was down in sight which is always a great feeling. Saturday night I set up 5 rows inside a cornfield and had 2 does and 2 fawns come out and one of the does gave me a nice 20 yard shot and was down within 100 yards. To top it off, after a 10 year hiatus, my mom decided she wanted to hunt during an early antlerless season in my permit area this year. She called at 7am and I met her and we tracked down a doe, her first deer in 10 years. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Today I adjusted a couple stands in prep for vacation November 1-8. Time for a buck now.

    Congrats on the doe!!!
I had first shooter buck on its feet tonight. Got down wind if me quick though and bolted. Saw total of 6 deer so definitely best night in the woods. Now to get one on the ground! Had a new buck show up on trail cameras also. Old deer with a lot of garbage around his bases. Rut is def on the way!!

I had bucks on the cameras around my stands but all still at night. I did see a small 8 come in one morning and bed with a doe, no chasing or anything but he bedded with her. I'd say its only a week before more significant movement picks up

What I'm really excited about is that it's 2 different bucks! Had 4 bucks on camera and 3 of them were 130 or bigger! Best camera pull I've ever had. Also last Saturday my buddy saw holy **** buck. Solid 190. Can't believe I have a small chance at that buck. Best year I've ever had for quality bucks on my properties.
