Hey guys things have started to settle down a little and I should be able to start posting more regularly now. I made it to the camp this weekend but only got to drop off some corn and ride around a little. It is still hot down here in LA so not much has changed. I also just found out an uncle got access to around 20 acres not too far from campus so that will help a lot. That is a great looking bull man! Those pictures were awesome too!
Congrats on the wedding Packerfan! Amazing you have anytime to even think about hunting right now - ha ha :-) Thanks for the comments guys. Was a lot of fun but elk hunting is tough work in tough conditions so glad that I can shift my focus back to whitetails.... Still got one more stand I'd like to hang that sits off a slew of my grandpas... I've wanted to hunt it in the past but haven't because they pheasant hunt it a lot... Figure if I keep my hunts to mornings - I should be able to avoid to many disruptions....
I am trying to make it out some time this weekend for a hunt. I will at least head to the camp to run cameras and check on my setups
Ohio has early muzzleloader and no bucks are allowed to hit the ground this weekend so doubt I even make it out this weekend. Going out tonight with some nice north wind!!! Did lay eyes on the first deer from the stand this year last night. Be it a very brief glimpse through the trees way out! Good luck everyone this weekend.
I'll be headed out tonight. The North wind is perfect for a couple of my set ups. What I hope to do is sit in my ground blind and hopefully get a doe.
Things happened and didnt get home until late so didn't even try. The blind I was going to hunt had a couple of deer in front of it. Will be going out tomorrow.
I'm sitting on the ground tonight. I was running late amd didn't want to set up the stand for an hour sit. I'm in a good pinch point about 70 yards from a bean field.
I smoked her at 23 yards and she made it about 70 yards. She ran full steam and died on the run. I'm glad I ran late today!!!
