Okay guys, went out to one of the streams around here yesterday and didn't have much luck, I did manage to pull out this nice smallie and I actually took my scale to weigh it, so lets see how close everybody can get...

I'm not much of a Small mouth fisherman but I'd guess that one to be In that 2.5 pound range. I'm probably not even close but thought I'd throw In my 2 cents.:d

Well, it looks like you were the closest Ryan, it weighed 2.3 lbs. I didn't measure its length, but I would say right around 17.5"

Ryan... the big smallies are really starting to show up at Little Mo. I had a much bigger smallie hit my Frog but I didn't get a hookset, I would have guessed it to go in the 3.5 to 4 pound range at the lower bridge!

Thanks, I was using Mann's Hardnose Frogs. Those things are dynamite for smallmouth, especially stream fish. The white color has been the most productive for me, but the green isn't too bad either. Just cast them out and bring them across the top just face enough to get the legs making a wake in the water and wait for the smack :d

Yea, I use Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Extra Wide Gap Worm hooks in the red color. I can usually get a hookset, the only time I don't is when I get to anxious and set the hook too early.

What kind of scale do you have that weighs in 1/10's of a pound? :d

My guess in your 1/10's would have been 2.625 pounds :ninja:

Nice, I'm gonna have to pick up some of those frogs. I fish a LOT of plastic baits rigged this way, but never a frog.

Lisa and I are headed up to the Adirondacks for a week of fishing/relaxing for the honeymoon at the end of July. Lots of smallies and pike up there, I'll give em a shot up there.

Scott... don't hate the player...hate the scale  :d

Matt, those frogs are dynamite. Last summer while fishing some of the local streams it was nothing to catch more than 30 smallmouth and a few pike and largemouth thrown in. The largemouth really hammer them at night as well. These were the first plastic frogs (beside the Banjo Frogs) that I had tried and I was amazed at how well they work. I would definetly pick up a couple packs though, they get hammered pretty bad and after a few nice smallies hit them they start missing legs :deer: :d
