On a side note TJ, we have been cementum aging deer for the past 3 years now, a total of 8 deer ranging in age from 3.5 to 6.5. There is no doubt, deer within the 3.5-4.5 age range can be tough to accurately age. Even last year, when Troy shot the deer we call The Elk. We knew he was at least 5.5 from previous history, but he was just a small deer. He didn't weigh much, grossed in the 120's" and was short. His whole life he had a 2.5 yr old body. I think that's what makes aging and getting to know deer so awesome. They are all so different. I'm pretty sure that first deer you showed was FC. I remember that deer from when you first saw him. A great deer no doubt. Hope you find a FC2 this year!

Thanks Tim and well done on the ageing.... Do you find the cementum results to be pretty spot on with what you feel, or in some cases know, the deers age to be?

With deer that show up for the first time, so far we've always been within +/- 1yr . Deer we have more than 2 yrs history with have always been spot on. It's for sure easier to get a solid aging on a deer when you are able to see him for a couple yrs.
