I keep going back and forth between the Cuddeback Capture Flash and the Bushnell Trophy cam. It sounds like the Bushnell has a wider detection field. I like it because of the IR too. It will be used mostly on public land for when I'm baiting bears. But it sounds like the cuddeback takes better pics and can detect movement further out than the Bushnell. I cannot decide. haha What do you think? Does anyone have pics from a trophy cam?
Here are my thoughts on the subject, whatever the're worth. I have a Cuddeback capture, and while it takes great pictures, the detection zone is very narrow. It also has a 30sec. delay between triggers that cannot be changed. As far as the cudde having more range, from everything I read the range on the Bushnell is supposed to be farther on the 2010 model. These should be out in the next month or so, so you may want to wait and see about those. Also, the Bushnells have a two-year warranty. Nobody else has that. Hope this helps with your decision. Blessings.....Pastorjim
I vote for the cuddeback. I would say go with the Bushnell because I have heard alot of good things about them. But, I have a friend at work, that is on his second one, and has yet to get 1 picture. He got the first one, and for some reason, it would take video, but would not take 1 picture. He sent it back, and they sent him a new one. Same problem, (not sure if it is something he is doing wrong, or what) He finally got it to take a couple of pictures, but noticed that his battery was down to 2 bars, and he didnt heven have it out in the woods yet. Put new batteries in it, put it out, and in less then a week, he went to check it..... not 1 picture, and the batteries were so dead, they wouldnt even power the unit on. I thought the Bushnell was much harder to program then the Cuddeback. Might just be me, but I know I will have a second Cuddeback in a couple of weeks.
I just got my bushnell and finished programming it and it seemed to be fairly easy to set up. It look me a couple minutes just to get the buttons all figured out and figure out exactly how to change and save the settings but it was fairly easy. I'm setting it up first thing in the morning and will probably be checking it on sunday or so just to see how my settings are. Once I get the pictures out of it I will let you know how it performs.
i too also had the dilemma of deciding between these two fine cameras last Christmas. i ended up going with the scoutguard 550(essentially the same as a Bushnell) and to this day i have 3 550's. they are amazing. i have no input on the cuddes....they take amazing pictures as well but do not have video. what did it for me is that you HAVE to wait atleast 30 seconds before it can take another picture....
i just got the cuddeback capture flash i and i really like it. It is so simple to use and the pictures are the best out there IMO. Maybe i am misunderstanding what pastorjim is saying about not changing the 30 second delay, but mine has the choice between 30 sec, 1 min,15 min, and 30 mins. Which i really like the 30 second choice. instead of having a minimum of 1 minute on there old cams. I like to get as many pictures as possible when i have it out there. I really havent heard too much about the bushnells to make a judgement on them, but i dont think you would regret getting the cuddeback.
I think what he means is you can't take pics in "burst mode", pictures in very close succession. Or perhaps the inability to take pics at say 15 sec intervals. It has to be minimum every half min the way the cam is set up.
Well, I made my decision today. Hopefully I wont regret it. I went with the Trophy cam since Cabelas had the 2010 models. Its got the option of 3,5, or 8 megapixels and they upgraded from 24 to 32 infrared LEDs. The free shipping at cabelas didnt hurt either got 2 treestands, tree spikes, and the trailcam shipped to AK for 16.00... cant beat that!
