End of seasons and #'s are coming out of your DNR/DEC's ODN came today and they have these in NYS Aug to Dec8 Hunting trapping sales up 11% youth up 26% Bow resident up 14% 77,690 new hunters (29,000 bow) were added to the hunters stats. Yep there is a reason some of us NYS hunters mentioned hunting pressure...They are expecting the same for spring turkey What happened in your states in 2020? See it wasn't all bad, the higher the #'s the harder it is for anti's
I blame this upward tick of hunters and harvests as to why just a box of ammo now needs a credit score and a personal loan for LOL
I don't know yet, but when covid hit Tom, ****, and Harry got a new bass boat and a new bow/gun along with a license!
I don't give 2 ****ts about how many hunting licenses were "sold" in MN. Numbers of active ones out in the field were dismall!
Virginias hunter numbers have been plummeting for years. This year was the most pressure I've seen in a really long time. I'll be interested to see what VAs final hunter numbers are when they come out.
pretty well established nationally that license sales were way, way up. I dunno about ya'll but if I was like BnB and lived in state that had license sales way up but hunting pressure was way down; I'd shut the hell up and say a little prayer of thanks. Best of both worlds. As for me, where I hunt in MI the pressure was up pretty bad but there was also a lot of area clear cutting so that concentrated us. Don't know how much each factor was responsible.
What do those % equate to in numbers and is 2020 an anomoly? Don't delude yourself hunters are still the vast minority, and NYC pov rules the state...
Like dnoodles and others said tag numbers were up this year, but also others were heavily using the woods recreationally (camping, horse back riders, hikers, etc). In NC, we have staggered seasons and where I hunt, it's roughly : bowhunting from Sept to mid Oct, then MZ, then rifle till 1/1 some munis have urban archery in Jan/Feb... Given the other users, I'd suspect archery and muzzleloader harvests were down on public land and likely flat or slightly up on private. Rifle, season, it's generally cooler, so I suspect harvest will be flat to slightly higher.
Nothing official but given the amount of time it took to get my deer back from the processors I would say Oklahoma's numbers are up.
Found this info... Looks like NY is down slightly for 2020 total license Rev compared to 2019. https://www.fws.gov/wsfrprograms/Subpages/LicenseInfo/Hunting.htm Granted harvest <> licenses...
I took my info from the NYoutdoornews that came out this week. if you look at the bottom of the page of that link it says: LAST UPDATED APRIL 2020 I can't read pdf from here so didn't click
interesting read with links to several state-specific licensed/harvested numbers https://dailycaller.com/2021/01/29/a-renaissance-for-americas-greatest-outdoor-pastime/
