Tyr going to a shop first and get measured and try out a few new bows to get an idea what you like. It's hard for someone else to tell you what you will like in a bow.

Then you can check out the used bows at some shops or in the classifides on this and other forums. You can get some good deals there. Just make sure you get one that fits you. For someone new to bowhunting I advise buying from a pro shop. Unless you have a friend that can guide you it can be very confusing and the pro shop should be looking to help guide you in your purchase. They can give you some good tips and get you set up with the right equipment to go with your bow.

Not sure about your age, but if you're young and still growing, buy a bow that can grow with you in draw length and poundage.

Pawn shops are also a good spot to check, that is where I bought mine. check out what's available around you, write down what you can (and take pictures!) and go home and do your research. Wherever you buy it, start a good relationship with your local pro shop, they will be alot of help in fitting and adjusting the bow for you (until you are prepared to do it on your own). I'd reccommend walking out of the pawn shop with a 24 hr or several day unconditional money-back return policy to give you a chance to take it to a shop and have them give it a once-over. Good luck, and welcome to the fold!
