I'm not comfortable doing too much tuning on my bow at this point...as in, I may be able to slip away at anytime to get in my tree...so if I get my bow all out of whack I'm screwed.... So that being said I went and bought a pack of Rage 2's....and the practise point flies as advertised..... I'll get the fine tuning done at the end of the season. I'm going to see my mighty Gamecocks kick off on Arkansas Sat.... so I might beable to get out on Sunday!!! SB
South-caka-lackie!!!!!!! gonna be a good game! i know what you mean bout not wanting to do a bunch of messing with ur bow!
Tuning a bow is an art that few people truly understand. The closest I could get my FPs and BHs was about 3" apart. What did I do? Move the sight
i've had that prob... tried to sync up the blades to the fletching, move site, move the rest etc. finally got feed up and only shot broadheads and nixed the FPs
My Bh's used to always hit about 3 to 6 inches low from my Fp's. I would just sight in my bow for my BH and expect my FP to hit high. I try to shoot and arrow when I get in my stand of the eve and before I leave in the morning so I was never satisfied with this. There are ways to tune your arrows and bow so they shoot together but I bought some Slick tricks and didn't have to. They shoot exactly the same as my FP's. lp
man that breaks my heart. I hate to see someone do this. Having a tuned bow is as important as anything you can do. Good new though, Rage has a money back guarantee so if you shoot a deer and don't recover it you get your money back. Just don't let this be a reason for taking a less than perfect shot. Good luck this weekend.
Madhunter, Thanks for the input, and I can assure you that if I thought my decision would risk wounding an animal I would not do it.... I can assure you that my pins are set and I can group my arrows in a 2 inch group on target out to 35 yards (as far as I shoot practising) The Rage practice point is dead on, so I make a bad hit it is because of me. I'm not convinced my bow is out of tune...I've read that the broadheads I'm using are extremely sensitive (American Broadhead Co. "Liberty") and that if they don't fly right it is more than likely form...and since I'm new to modern bows, and have had to relearn how to shoot, My guess is my form is the problem...(my bow came tuned and I had it checked at a local pro shop....) But thanks gfor the Guidance I do indeed appreciate it!!!!
I shot expandables that shot with my FP's for awhile and had some success with them. It was years ago that I used some old bigger BH's that didn't shoot to the same point but like I said I was tuned in using the broadheads! They can shoot extremely tight groups with both types and still not shoot to the same impact point, it's not a big deal as long as you're sighted in with your broadheads for hunting. I shot Wasp expandables for awhile and then ??? I have trouble remembering the name but they were aluminum body BH's. Could only get one shot out of them and they were trashed unless I was using a BH target. I really like my Slick Tricks and the Rage killed deer I've seen on here look almost like the BH gutted them! lp
