What’s everyone’s predictions for the Ohio rut? I took a weeks vacation from nov.9-14 Someone told me the warm weather could push the rut into December I need help!!!!!!! Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
Weather isn't going to slow down the rut, it happens regardless, based on the amount of daylight in a day that triggers does to go into estrous. Weather may play a role in the amount of daylight deer movement you see though, making deer stick to heavier movement in the dark when the temps are lower. I have traveled to Missouri the last 2 years, Nov 9-13th the first year killing on the 12th, and honestly I feel like a lot of bucks were already locked down on does that year. Last year I hunted the 7-11th, killing on the 8th. This year I will be hunting the earliest I have Nov 5-9th. I like your dates, you'll be good, I hope I am not too early!
Spot on SparrowHawk. The rut happens no matter what. I'll be there the 11th to the 14th. It should be prime time, I'm pumped!
I watched a shooter chase a doe around this morning like it was Nov. Love is in the air. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have always toke off the 2nd week of November. The woods I hunt always seems to be a bit ahead. I changing it up completely and going to try around halloween. I think it’s a little early but never know until I try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I took off November 2nd & 3rd and 6th-10th. Combine the weekends and I'll have 10 days of straight hunting from 11/2 - 11/12. The rut happens around the same time every year in northern states (Ohio) no matter the weather, moon, or anything for that matter. It's all about photoperiod. Southern states have more variance when it comes to when the rut is going to happen because of the number of deer and the genetics of the herd (basically how well they are managed).
Warm weather will not push the rut back. Sometimes in a real warm year, you may not see as much daytime activity. But I guarantee you, they are still gettin busy! Blessings.........Pastorjim
I actually like the time around Halloween. Pre-rut generally but the bucks move to scent check the does and if you can find the weather and get set up on food or a bedding area they will come to check the does. For 2 straight years prior to last year I shot great bucks on Halloween day.
Halloween time has always been better for me than the 2nd week in November. This cold weather coming this week will see lots of deer hit the ground. I’m excited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
