Just wanted to remind everyone hunting in Ohio this coming weekend. This weekend is the early muzzle loader season for does only. Bow hunters are required to wear orange and may not kill a buck. It is does only this weekend. Has to be the worst rule on the books for weekend hunters but it is on there.
I agree.... If anything they should have had it the weekend before the regular season opened. They also took away the $15 antlerless tags in my county. If they are still having a doe only season, the $15 tags should be available to use statewide. smh
Yeah I don't like how they have limited the doe tags and I also think having this in the middle of Oct. is not a good idea as it takes away from archery season.
Dumb rule, good thing we have a community event that will keep us busy this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm afraid to go out. I know my target buck will walk right out at 20 yards and stick his tongue out at me!
Yeah, I'm not a fan of it either. Not being able to shoot a buck in the middle of October when the rut is starting up really sucks. I won't be happy if a nice buck walks in front of me...
I'll be out Friday night. If I happen to shoot a buck and need to leave him lie overnight what do I do? I would definitely try to document everything to a fault. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Good question, the rules just say that the deer needs to be checked in by noon the next day. But that might be from the time you actually tag it. Either way, that would put you in the doe only weekend and I have no idea what you should do. We might want to call the DNR and ask on that one.
I agree that it's a stupid rule, however it isn't going to ruin my weekend. I'll be in a tree with my bow ready to take a doe. It'll be my first of the season if it happens and my first with a bow. I can't wait to get out this weekend.
The way this season has gone for me so far, I probably won't even see a deer. Don't know why I'm worrying about it. Haha Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I asked our local DNR officer this last year. He said to give him a call in the evening if I do shoot a buck on the Friday before if I have to leave it until the next morning and let him know so he can make a note of it in case it gets flagged. So either call your local DNR officer if you do shoot one or you can tag it in as usual the next day and document the recovery.
I'll be out with crossbow in hand. I'm out tonight so hopefully I see a buck. If not, does only Weekend and my freezer is pretty bare. Not much left. In she will go if I get the chance. Husband has some sort of poker thing going on.
