I was confused when I opened this. at the top of the page it said "Bowhunting.com, 100% bowhunting, no BS" and then this "story" was posted on the same web site.
It's okay - he has trouble with simple concepts. We try to look past his disability and judge him not for his lack of self-control, but for his narrow minded views and inability to not complain about crossbows. We need to make a safe space where Rancid Jr. can go decompress every time there is a crossbow post.
They let you come here and post and that is BS. Not one single redeeming quality, considering your genetic disposition to be a complete jack ass I realize that you probably can't help it.
There was no complaint about crossbows. It was a comment on irony. Had the link been to a miniature real bow and arrow, or a muzzleloader, it too would NOT have been about bowhunting hence my comment about the juxtaposition of the phrase "Bowhunting.com, 100% bowhunting, no BS" and a story about something not at all related to bowhunting. Perhaps the tag line should be revised to read "Bowhunting.com, 99% bowhunting, and a little BS not related to bowhunting." Its the off season and folks here seem on edge so perhaps irony and humor is lost.
Crossbow toothpick hunting is far to easy. I prefer blowgun hunting with sandwich toothpicks and a straw.
Agreed, sitting in a comfy office chair shooting Asian labeled coke cans is like shooting penned, high fence animals. Not ethical at all. Lack of fletching and low FOC on the bolt were also unethical. The only thing they got right was the shot distance. They worked to get close so while this is not in any way "bowhunting" at least they got close.
I keep hearing of this Rancid Crabtree, but think he may have been before my time on here. Is he a legendary troll of some sort?
I wouldn't say legendary... he would've had to last longer than he did... he did have some cool posts... probably stolen from someone else tho ... oh, and he was busted for poaching.... so there's that Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If being accurate is a goal(like it is with tiny Chinese crossbows and coke cans) , back in 2012 he got a fine for feeding deer out of season. (gun season). Im not aware of him ever getting cited for poaching. (unless It happened before I was born in 1990) All his projects are pretty cool and I don't think any are stolen since I get to see the development process first hand from his brain to completion. His blog is full of all the neat stuff he makes. He used to post projects to his blog site all the time but now most of his projects sit on his camera because he is too busy to upload the stuff. He works a full time job plus we partner in our Innovative Outdoorsman business plus he has been hired on (contracted) by some bowhunting companies to design products for them (drop away rests, peep sights and his own arrow rest which is his most lucrative venture to date). He pretty much works from 6 am to 11 pm every day of the week.
I think the infamous Wisconsin outdoor writer pretty much explained the charges and court outcome pretty clear.
The jack ass has been banned from every meaningful website pertaining to archery hunting for deer, hard to argue with that.
I also believe that not all of the posts from his son are from his son, pretty sad and pathetic to use a child for cover to post.
