A few years back, the TVA (??) brought back to Tennessee, the Elk. On the North Cumberland WMA, they have a tower where the public can view these incredible animals. The first two hunts on this WMA, I have encountered the bachelors...3 elk bulls one day and one elk cow the second day. What an incredible experience being that close to an amazing animal. They all were 10 yards away. My question is, does anyone know anything about how that might affect the deer? I am hunting this ravine that is located between these fields. There is some water and a bunch of thick brush surrounding the ravine. Looks 'real good' for what deer would like. Hard to see any sign due to the massive prints and dung by the elk. Someone told me that if I am seeing elk, I should see deer. I should add that I have not seen any deer yet. What does everyone else think? Thanks for the replies.
Congrats on the fine doe! Glad the little guy got to enjoy it with you. You're right, here in the Northern part of Tennessee the deer seem to still be around two weeks from prime rut, they are gearing up though and getting ready to do their thing. The centerfire rifle season openers should see the rut in full swing.
I just got back from Montana few months ago and out there on the same ranch I was seeing elk, pronghorn, mule and white tails, black and grizzles bears so wouldn't think it would affect them to much other then them competing for food Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was sick last weekend with a bad cold/sinuses, really hated not hunting. I plan on "Getting my Hunt On" during this holiday break.
Update on my season. 5 deer so far. 1 good buck and 4 does. My little bro also got his first deer ever in Nov. A small doe that he heart shot with a bow. Now I'm holding out for bucks only. Good luck to the rest of you. Sorry no pics on this pc.
getting pumped. currently living in orlando, taking the family up to my folks for christmas. buddy texted me the other day, said "find a way to fit the Hoyt in the car along with all the christmas crap, and we'll try to bag one when you're up here". havent been able to hunt in TN since 2006!
If anyone is planning to hunt Ft Campbell this year i was at the outdoor rec office on post and they said this year you have to kill a doe prior to getting a buck. Mainly because the doe population on post is bad (12-1). just a heads up
