Had a nice 8 point come through at 8:00. Saw 7 does after that. The buck was searching. He had his nose on the ground looking for does.
About another hour of work and I get to go home, I'm technically on the clock till 1230 so the vacation doesn't start till then, but at least I will be "off work".....
I'm enjoying my time in the stand for ya Anymore pictures of those studs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nothing over the last week. Had a few snaps of one of them running through early morning, nothing in day light the last few weeks though. Looking like a repeat of last year, end of October deer just disappear on me. Have seen one deer the last 3 sits, cams have been pretty much nothing, although o did have one not turned on for three weeks, and it was in a location that I had not hunted until Tuesday....
I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't seen anything the last 4 sits. Tho I have caught deer on my cams, they're just not there when I am. No shooters yet tho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was a 40 yard shot which is well within my comfort range but we had 15-20 mph winds and I didn't feel comfortable with that.
Smart move. Better to be safe than sorry, that's for sure, especially with hit list bucks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey brother don't hurt yourself. We appreciate the effort but we need you back in the game healthy next year. We'll be happy with moral support and advice.
Ok gents I just posted a doe on the board. Thursday resulted in another goose egg for sightings in Virginia but was stuck on stand in dark waiting for a group of deer that came down the fence line at dark to clear. Friday morning before light same thing, deer moving up fence line in the dark. I videoed a small yearling spike that is over the list because the land owner saved him earlier in the year from being tangled in a high tensile fence. He tore the scrapes up in the area. Friday evening was another goose egg. Saturday morning was raining so I decided against hunting the rain. To afraid I won't be able to follow blood trail. That afternoon I got on one set that I moved to the fence line and shortly climbed out because of wind. I moved to the bottom stand to clear some wind. Good move as I saw 8 that afternoon and whacked a long horned spike that was on the cull list and a big doe.
Nicely done Craig! First one on the team to tag out for the competition I believe. Cool story with that deer too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had a great hunt this morning even though the time change caught me off guard and I didn't score. I was running late and ended up getting settled in to the new stand the wife and I hung Wednesday afternoon specifically to hunt a 11 pointer I had seen earlier in the year at 7:05. At 7:40 he came in and I drew on him, but couldn't find a hole through the tree limbs for a shot. After letting down I watched him walk away and thought to myself maybe the third time will be the charm. Before the morning was over I had a short tined 10 pt tempt me, saw 9 does and a spike.
That sounds like a mighty close one Tony! Hopefully he'll present you with another opportunity! Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hunted all day, didn't see anything until I was down on the ground packing stuff up, had a big bodied small rack 8 mosey behind me, I was ducked down behind a thorn bush and managed not to spook him, I'll be back out tomorrow....
Gents, Thanks for all the feedback. I finally finished the video I was talking about. Towards the end you can see the video from the bow mounted tactacam. There is a vibration and makes it hard to see exactly where you hit but it does help to remember what happened. Let me know what you think. This year has been slow so far but things are ramping up. Saturday I had to use the tacticam because of the rain and I did not want to risk killing the canon. Primal Obsession Episode 1
