Saw another 8 point again tonight. Just not what I am looking for. The bucks are starting to feel it here. I grunted a few times and he came trotting in. I think by the middle of next week things will really start to get going.

They are getting fired up guys

Friday evening I called in a small 8 point for the wife. He came charging in as soon as I grunted. I never got a chance to rattle. Not the buck we were after, but very encouraging. Great evening. We found a bunch of new scrapes along the field edge.

Saturday morning I saw two great bucks. One was chasing a doe for 30 minutes all around me. The other I saw right at day light 50 yards away feed under a white oak. No shot opportunities, but I did zero in on a new tree that I plan on hanging a stand in this week.

Saturday evening I set up on a food plot. Great view but no sightings…

BTW-- I added two more ladder stand to my inventory yesterday. I plan on getting them hung Wednesday night. Have a four day weekend coming up and plan on hitting it hard. :o

Great plan. I can't wait to get back out this weekend. 42* and snow in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.

That's sounding good boys! I hoping that this week will be a good week for deer movement for North Carolina. The new wifey and I plan to go out sometime this week after my exam on Tuesday! We'll see how that turns out.

The good news is that Lori and I survived the wedding! That also good news is my (basically) second family knows how much I like to hunt and they got Lori and I a 2 person blind for a wedding gift!! So I need to figure out where to put that one!

Also, checked my trail cams and the Bucks have been on their feet (mostly night). Found some buck rubs and scrapes

I'm guessing it's this guy but don't know for sure.

His name is crab claw, because last year his G3 where like crab claws. He really has put on some height, mass and time length. He'll get another pass until next year. I'm thinking he'll be 4 1/2 then.

Great looking buck Chris. I think you're making the right decision letting him go another year. Gotta love getting new hunting gear as well.

There's almost no better gift Aaron. The hard decision becomes where we're going to put it. I might try it for a late season blind near my brassicas food plot. We'll see.

Chris that sucks but at least old mossy horns did not step out into full view. I leave a pack in the dash just in case. ;) wife is like what in the world. My comment basic essentials.

On a more important note CONGRATS!! It awesome that the family i good with getting you a ground blind as a wedding present. My wife would have tarred and feather someone. :P

I only use a broadhead once per deer usually. But just in case, I clean them up and keep a few in the door of my truck. Then I always keep one for a coyote/what ever I feel like shooting arrow...

Gents I finally had an opportunity to drop the string on a deer and connected. While honestly this was not the deer I thought it was almost too perfect to turn down.

I was about to message you and see
What was up, seen your post in Bowhunting talk and was like wait a sec, he didn't post nothing about this in the team thread...

Congrats man. Any deer with a bow is a trophy on my book...

Now that's a smart idea. I'll have to grab another pack and do exactly that.

Luckily miss Lori has gotten literally everything she needs for her kitchen and normal home stuff, so she was pretty excited that my family friends got us a 2 person blind. We had been looking at them for quite some time but it just wasn't a necessity so we never got it. We just got lucky we have great friends! My friend and his dad pulled me over to the side during the dinner after the wedding and said "see all those gifts over there? All those are pretty much for your wife. But do you see the gift on the ground? That one is from us, and we got it especially for you, you needed ATLEAST one" haha I couldn't ask for any better hunting friends/family. Turns out it's an Ameristep 2 person blind (for me and Lori) and it's one of those quick pop up blinds. SUPER nice wedding gift I must say!

Ok gents the post has been put in the scorecard. I will get measurements in tomorrow. Then its on for number two. I took off Thursday and Friday this week to get 4 days in. I am determined to pull a deer out of Virginia this year even though the cards are stacked it seems. Also I got some video I will post. Nothing great but for an educated hillbilly it aint terrible. :P

I noticed what looked like to be a mounted camera on your stabilizer. Look forward to seeing the video
