Ok so my standards are now anything that is furry, walks on 4 legs and has a heart beat. Heart beat optional. This year has been unproductive. Not seeing much of anything during daylight hours. With the clear cutting and new neighbor with 5 dogs moving across the street movement has been light. Scrapes are however starting to show up so I do have some hope that a shooter would show. Right now however anything legal that comes by might be in trouble
Aaron, On a side note just checked out Hoyts new lineup. The turbo this year is pushing 350 ATA. Got me a little interested I will have to say.
I think I am more interested in the Nitrum turbo just like the factor last year. I have held the carbon bows and they feel to light for me. I like the aluminum for a little more weight. The speeds are the same too. I bet those Carbon Spyder ZTs start at $1500. The faktors and last years carbon spyders have really come down in $.
Heading out after work tonight to try the blinds we put in last Sunday. Here is the layout of the sets. We are supposed to have a 12-15 mph West wind. The wife will be in the one on West side of this picture, and I’ll be in the East. She will have this view This is the blind I’ll be in And the view of the creek crossing
Tony Good luck. I like those inside corners and you have options for the wind. I am still fighting whether to sit tight here or head to Virginia. Dogs are killing me in Virginia on that small tract. Either way I have to make adjustments at both locations.
Thanks Craig.. I have a feeling that one of us will get a shot tonight. May not be anything with head gear, but I am ready to put some meat in the freezer.. Dogs can mess up a bow hunting set real quick.. Go with your gut, make your adjustments, play the wind and take what lady luck gives you!
I was thinking about this and went back and double checked the rules. It states the score of a legally antlered deer, not including button bucks. Most states let you tag a BB with an antlerless tag. If that is the case with you, you still have a buck tag and can knock one down for a bigger score. But if that is a legally antlered deer in your state, I guess just take the 50 pts for it.
Good morning from the tree stand. It's cooler this morning but not the cold front I was hoping for. Anyone else hunting this morning? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No luck today this morning I did find a buck scrape and buck rub close to one of my set ups Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes it was tagged as an anterless because the nubs weren't protruding. So yes I can still take a buck for the team
Ok. So just edit your score card post to show 50 pts for one of your deer. You only get one bonus deer and one buck...
Anyone hear from Tony this weekend? He had some nice looking spots to connect with an awesome deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey Chris-- sorry I didn't post this weekend. Was in the woods hitting it hard. Recap-- hunted the blinds Friday evening at the family farm - Wife had a nice 8 point come in but couldn't get a shot off. I didn't see a deer.. Wind was swirling bad for my blind setup. It was hitting the high creek bank and coming right back around to me. Pulled that cam I had on the wife's blind and she verified that the buck she saw was the piebald. He is hanging out there. Here is a pic of him the day before she hunted that blind. Hunted Saturday all day-- seen 3 Jakes and seven small bucks all out roaming around looking for a hot doe... Hunted Sunday all day - Had shot opportunities at several does, but passed them up as I was on a Bucks only lease... On the bright side one of my lease buddies took this nice 10 Pt.
That is a beautiful 10! Congrats to him. Each day is getting better and better to hunt, we'll all hopefully get some shot opportunities Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got word yesterday corn is getting cut on my lease. Was already planning on hunting on my days off, but am even more pumped for it now. Should be like a all you can eat buffet for the deer. Started cutting on it yesterday evening. So hopefully by Tuesday morning they are almost done and I'll have a few pictures of deer walking by my cams and have a good idea where to set up.
I've finally have some buck movement on the cams and in shooting light. So far they aren't shooters but some are mighty close! I'm hoping to get some hunting time this week before me and Lori get hitched this weekend, we'll see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
