Hahaha man I'm sorry but I'm enjoying your season! It puts a smile on my face every time I read one of your mishaps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I'm calling it a night. Not sure if I will hunt tomorrow or not, only get one day off this week so may just spend it on the couch watching hockey...
It's ok, I've dealt with mishaps my entire life when it comes to the outdoors. From the time I was little and all the family fishing/camping trips, we always called them the Lofton family adventures because nothing ever went right. It has just continued into my hunting life.
Great night in the woods for me and my buddy. He shot a 7 point on state game lands. I got it all on film.
Chalk one up for the wind fellas. Had three shooters, one being one of the big boys, come down wind and almost commit to the killing trail. When I got ready to draw back on the big boy I felt the wind on my neck. He looked around and slowly walked away.
News at 11--- The good, the bad and the ugly! As planned--- I was sitting in the killing tree at 4:30 pm – great wind and my quiet entry has me pumped! At 5:05 a spike walks out at 60 yards and starts feeding. I watch him for several minutes when somewhere on a distant road a siren lights up our world. He throws his head up, and in an instant vanishes back into the woods. A short while later I see an old nanny doe and her two fawns at the far end of the field and they start to mow the oats. I was busy checking the pics off the cam I had on the scrape I mentioned and didn’t see them walk out They were just there when I looked up. A D9 commercial appears real time and I am in it… The landowner has been working on the back side of the damn of his lake for the past 2 weeks, and tonight. Yes; tonight he decides to put in an hour and half burning diesel fuel right before dark. As soon as the beeeep beeeep beeeeep of reverse sounds off the field clears again! Needless to say I didn’t see anything after he fired up that Cat. On top of that all of the pics on the cam are of an old nanny doe, the spike and a 2 year old 7 point.
Don't you wish that when the wind screws you like that -- that you could fart at that exact instance? Poetic justice and all!
Good to hear y'all have been seeing some deer! Y'all have me pumped up for this weekend. Tyler keep it up buddy, that big boy will slip it soon and you'll get your chance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is the raw footage of my buddy's buck kill last night. Both of our classes got canceled today so we are headed back out tonight an d I am looking to kill a doe.
Haha story of my life too. I think that's why it's called The Great Outdoors. You never know what will happen and what you may see, and if you're lucky enough it'll all come together as you've planned. But that's usually few and far between. But when it does, it's glorious! The best part is the adventure! It might go as planned but most likely not, Lori and I have gotten use to the element of surprise when something goes wrong and we enjoy it right along through it. We started calling our outdoors time Chrori's Adventures (for Chris and Lori, generic I know haha). Y'all keep an eye out for the show one day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea I have always been a believer in Murphy's law, if it can go wrong it will wrong. Hell I even remember one time when I was little I went fishing with my mom and brother, dad had told her not to go, well anyways she was helping me with my reel and had a bite on hers, turned and stepped on a hole and broke her ankle/leg, still crawled to her pole and reeled in a fish. That one still stands out to this day....
Now that story right there is the definition of dedications/love. Haha I think I might would hold my ankle and cry! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
She actually only cried when she called my dad, she was worried about telling him since he said she shouldn't go....
Well I say, if you've got a free day off, go fishing/hunting! Broken ankle or not! I would crawl to my treestands if I had to Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Does anyone have a meat process/grinder?? Lori and I are in the market, we one want that will last literally forever (stainless steel) will grind well, possible attachments for different uses. I've been looking at the LEM brand .25HP stainless steel grinder. Anyone have one they like? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
