Good luck Tony. I'm out sitting right now.

I missed a doe last night at 22 yards again........shot UNDER her this time. I've killed many a deer with shotgun, muzzleloader and rifles but boy is this bow a new challenge!! I shake like a leaf when I go to shoot.

We all go through buck fever Chris. It gets easier to deal with as you get a few seasons under your belt. But believe me I never want to lose that feeling. Its a big part of why I bow hunt. If you watch a lot of deer move through the woods you soon realise that they move very slowly..:-) If they are not alert no need to rush it. Take a deep breath as you settle your pin --- squeeze and follow through...

I hear that. I love the adrenal rush but man it shakes me up haha. I just get more frustrated because I want to put down my first deer with a bow AND I want some JERKY!

Miss Lori and I are moving into our house today. Got all my mounts in the spare room ready to be relocated on a wall

Chris-- nothing like getting your first place.. Great feeling!

I just rolled in from the farm. We all saw deer tonight, and I got to draw my bow. Actually 3 times in about 5 minutes. Never could find the shot i wanted on a big nanny. She is old and wise and always stopped with cover between us.

Going to do a mid day hunt tomorrow at one of the leases. Got a pretty good pattern going at this set.. Should be interesting afternoon.

Pretty good night here. 7 deer total 2 being bucks. Could've shot the 8 point multiple times but it was a little early in the season and he wasn't on the hitlist. I did get pretty good footage of him. Next hunt won't be until Friday because of school.

I agree Aaron it was a really good night to be in the woods. I spoke to several of the guys in the lease and almost to a T everyone of them were covered up with deer tonight..

Looking forward to seeing your footage.

It would have been awesome if there weren't 30 mph wind gusts. But I'd rather be getting blown around in a tree than sitting at home.

Hang in there brother. The rush is the reason a reason I hunt. When you don't get excited its probably time to stop! The good news is that there is still plenty more season left. Even though you are excited talk yourself through the shot through execution. It will all come together. Oh and by the way that excitement gets worse once you connect so make sure you are strapped in good. :)

OK sooo I was going to hang out for a nice buck but the ways things are going the season this year is off to a slow start. I drove up to Virginia Friday night and was in the stand 0530 setup and ready to do. I gotta get better with my pack setup. Setting up and taking down is taking longer than I like. Via the outdoor light I could see a small deer walking up the fence line. In the dark I could hear it crunching acorns. By first light he was gone. After that around 7:30 the neighbors dogs camped out behind me and barked for 30 minutes. Did get some practice with the camera videoing the neighbor hood cats out looking for squirrels and birds. The land owner told me a doe was down the fence line about 100 yards below me eating acorns for an hour only 80 yards away. That afternoon I sat the stand near that tree and only saw blue jays and heard the turkeys fly up to roost.

Had honey do list to get done today. Spent most of the day out with the wife shopping :( Oh well will be back at it next Saturday. I am itching to let an arrow fly at something and I am all out of venison so the next available opportunity I get something is getting it. :tu:

Good luck to you guys this week and please be safe.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

Our season is off to a slow start too, I've seen deer but very few and usually right at first light or right before dark. I sat Saturday morning and didn't see a darn thing. I woke up this morning and it was a cool 50 degrees! I wish I would have been in the stand this morning!! The good news is that it's getting closer and closer to pre-rut seek and chase! Can't wait!

Well yesterday's mid day hunt didn't pan out like I had hoped it would. Saw 1 decent 3 year old 8 pt buck that was maybe in the mid 20's, and 3 doe..

He never came closer than 50 yards. The wife wanted a crack at him bad. Wasn't meant to be though.

She did attempt a shot at one of the does though and it was a swing and a miss! Shot right under her. Longer shot than what she thought it was. I had ranged the spot at 22 yards earlier.

The doe actually stood there and let her get a second arrow on before it bolted.

My next hunt will be this Wednesday.. Going to put in some ME stand time right after work..

This is a video that my best friend and I put together. These are only 6 of the 43 groundhogs I shot this year.

Nice!! Number 4 was a bit surprising on the location. Now that I can find ammo I need to take the grendel out this fall.
