Like I said when the teams were first picked, shoot what makes you happy. We have all been there chasing that first deer with a bow. I dropped a small 7 pointer for my first deer with a bow.

It is still one of my best and most memorable hunts. I did it from the ground, on public land. That is a feat in all its own.

It's not about the points at the end of the season, it's about all of us getting to do what we love and share it with the team and make some friends along the way.

Oh and talk crap to the other teams of course....

Finished getting the last of the stands setup today. I AM READY--- 10 days!

I also checked the cams on that are setup on my wife’s ground blind when I was on my way out. We should have a great opening morning set!

This was just a great pic so I had to post it.

I thought this was a cool sequence of this buck shedding his velvet.

Here is a little sneak peek.

    IMAG0756.jpg

He was number 2 last year, this year he is number 1 since my number 1 last year disappeared. He really didnt add anything in inches, im guessing he is 4.5-5.5... Still going though photos, ill post up some public links to my facebook albums when I get done, you dont have to have facebook to view them that way.

Yea, he is walking by that cam between 4-8 almost daily. Only thing is, I can only hunt that spot from the ground, and it is a crappy location for a blind, so i cleared out a little area in a brush pile to sit and trimmed a couple shooting lanes. here is a link to my pictures, out of 3 cams, this one on the field is the only one that had anything good.

Well boys, I am ready to go.

I wasn't planning on hunting opening day, but seeing all those deer moving in the afternoon, I may just have to hunt the afternoon next Wednesday. 8 days and counting...

Chris its all good. We have been there or will be there one day. Thats a major reason why I hunt. The rush is something not many will understand. But it can also cause you to loose you mind for a moment. No makes every shot and if we did the allure might not be there. Plenty of days and does left to sling arrows at.

Was able to get out Saturday afternoon. Saw the two twin fawns at 80 yards are 7:15 pm. Since acorns are dropping I need to make some adjustments. No more pictures of bucks at feeders. :( Thats ok still plenty of time left and I also have the Virginia season opener in a couple of weeks. So I guess I consider this pre-season :tu: but there is a lot left of season and plenty of time to practice filming. Now I just need some targets for the bow and the camera.

I'm giving it time for them to quiet down, but pulled this from the trail cam and me and my buddy call it the "Doe Train." That and I am having fun learning how to make movies.

One more week then it's on like donkey kong. This week I am finishing getting everything ready.

Yesterday I got my arrows ready. Checked broadhead flight, put on my nockturnals,

Today I think is going to be camera gear day. Gonna get all of my stuff set up on a tree in the back yard and double check everything is good to go. Only used the cam arm one time last year so still need some practice with it.

After that it is just double checking everything and waiting for oct 1st. Getting those pictures of bucks moving in daylight really has the blood pumping. Ready to get out there and put a good one down.

I'm starting to get itchy about going back out. I want my buddy to get a deer first though, his turn.

Good luck y'all! Season has been in for half a month or more and I've only been out a few times, too much going on!

Can't believe the rest of the world doesn't slow down for hunting season...whats wrong with them??

Been quite around here the last couple of days. What is every one up to.

I'm doing final prep this weekend. Getting my truck cleaned out, only happens twice a year, right before deer season, and right before turkey season. Also will be getting all the camera gear gathered up and charged and make sure everything is in working order.

Other then that and maybe double checking the bow, I'll be ready for Wednesday.
