Well boys, havent laid anything down yet but I've had a blast so far! Seen a pile of does that are cruisin for an arrow! Not any of my hit list though but hey, still got a lot of season haha
I have to thin out some does this year, especially on our upper 20. They mow the beans down every year. Still plenty of season to go! Best part has yet to come!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heading out this morning to readjust a couple of sets. Got to dial two stands in and get camo wraps and seat cushions on three others... should have had it done last month, but with 70 sets to get ready it just didn't happen. Good luck to those of you hunting today!
Just soared on over the back of a doe at 20 yards. She was as calm as she could be, I let out a grunt to stop her (never should of done that), she was then on high alert Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You did the right thing in my opinion. All It take is a half step to go from lungs to guts,. Been there done that. I will never try and shoot a deer that is walking again. But that said, when you stop them, you need to be ready to shoot.
That's the thing, she was stopped, licking another doe haha I just didn't want her moving anymore. I definitely rushed it. I was shaking like a leaf afterwords. Live and learn. Next time I know to slow down Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2 of the does tried to come back. Wonder where the 3rd went. I'm getting down to check my arrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you are sure it was a clean miss best to just wait it out. All those deer know is they heard something, but if you get down an start moving around just gonna spook everything in the area and spread your scent.
2 came back and then spooked off for some reason. Not sure if they caught my scent (should have). But they were long gone. I took a shot at the old doe off the group, she didn't come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First 2 shots at 22 yards...no excuses for me missing. Just didn't take my time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The first one with the bow is tough because of the nerves. Just take your time, aim, and make your shot count. And just to be sure, aim just a little more forward and just a hair higher then how you were aiming in the picture
She was right at 22 yards, which is what I shot there in the picture (my first pin being set at 17). And it still went over get back. Shows how much those girls can squat to run. Ill have to take my time next time. If it happens then awesome, if not, I won't rush it like I did Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hoping for some updates soon. I'm not getting in the stand for another few weeks after shooting my deer. I want to wait for fall and then I'm going out looking for a doe.
John I would have been proud if my first buck with a bow was that big brother! My spike would have scored 130 in my mind if I could have added the 120 points he was worth to me as my first! They are all trophys when taken with a bow no matter what bone they carry on their head... Did you ever post up the score for the contest?
John, sure looked like a good buck to all of us! And if I'm not mistaken, your buck has put us in the lead! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
