On a better note. I over seeded some clover in my brassicas plots, where it was a little sparse. PRAY FOR RAIN!

These are two of the bucks that I'll be going after this year. The first one, I havent seen him for a week or so now so I'll have to do some searching. BTW I am filming hunts this year so make sure to like us at DeadFall Outdoors in the signature :)

Deer season is two weeks away but Goose opened today. We got 5 this morning and the DNR agent said we were the only ones with geese. Hoping to go again tonight with my bow.

I’m sure the labor in my day today will be worth it!!

    Happy Labor Day guys! :)

Got the pool closed yesterday with some great help from the kids. We had a bow practice session when we were done-- the grandson, wife, daughters and son in-laws. They wore the targets out!

    I coached :moose: ~~ tough job – I know LOL :)

Got the new blind set up this morning for the wife. Think it will be hot early season…

Here is our new Grounder 350 setup--- couple of different views- This is a major pinch point!

Pulled the chip while we were there.

Here are some of the regulars the wife has as targets.

Very nice! Looks like y'all got a nice setup and nice bucks!

I, also, got out today and got my new stands ready to go in the woods, now it's time to figure out where...like you said, it's going to be hot early season. But once the acorns start dropping, they'll comply shun our bean fields

Maybe next weekend, won't be today. I could almost taste the doves yesterday, so needless to say I'm pretty bummed

Chris-- It was crazy driving down to the farm this morning.. Doves flushing off the road and sitting on the high wires everywhere.. My problems here is that all the corn even on the sandy ground is still green as a gourd..no fields here to shoot yet..

I'm thinking another two weeks and I'll be breaking out the 7 1/2's to give them little gray rockets a go :)

Ha i will not be shooting them on the fly. I have to get them to land in a corn field first. I came within 40 yards of one last year but when I started my draw I got busted.

Almost all corn is within a week of shelling if not shelled already. I can see light on the other side of the tunnel tho, I talked to a friend today and will hopefully go to his land next weekend. Hopefully that pans out, they do it up nicely for doves

Well dove hunting was ok this morning. Not flying real great but enough to keep you interested. Took me a little while to get dialed in though. Missed my first 7-8 shots. That is unusual for me. Had about a 45 min period where they were flying real good and got into a groove. Dropped 4-5 in that time period and only missed 1. Overall got 7 and 1 I couldn't find. Will head back out this after noon and probably tomorrow as well.

Wes.. You ever use Italian dressing as a marinade for your dove breast??

    I love to grill them!

    Quick recipe

    de-bone breast-
marinade in Italian dressing 30 minutes in fridge-
wrap breast meat around whole black olive
wrap half strip of bacon around breast and pin with tooth pick.
Throw them on grill and cook till bacon crisps..

Damn--- I got get out this weekend and shoot me some dove! :)

I just always de-bone breast, soak in salt water for an hour or 2, then soak in butter milk over night, then dip in egg and seasoned flour and fry em up.
