Hey guys! Sorry it took so long to become an alternate for Team 9. Name is Ron, from western PA. Haven't gotten any really good trail cam pics yet, but will be checking the mem. cards this weekend. Been hecktick around here last day or so, had t rush the wife to the emergency room, and a few hours later she was rushed into the operating room. Had appendicitis and her appendix was 3 times larger than normal. She is doing well, but still in the hospital. Just finished a new target 4'x4' and ready to shoot something other than it! LOL!! Bring on the whitetail!! Glad to be here!

Sry about not posting anything last night i sorta came home and passed out instantly but yesterday was a great day atleast a great morning.

Ok let me start off by sayin yesterday was the best first day of early doe season ive ever had. The weather was so nice, it was cold a slight breeze and the sun coming up over the tree tops was perfect. I just new brian was gonna get a shot at a doe for sure. (Brian is my hunting buddy ill be filming his hunts and he will be filming mine.) So Brian picks me up and we head up the street to a lil early season honeyhole I have for doe. We get their get set up about 22ft in the air and Im filming Brian. Well he is all ready all set up bow hangin on the hook and iim just screwing the camera on to the filming head of the camera arm when he nudges my leg and says buck im like no way and I look down and If It was the weirdest thing theirs a buck at the bottom of the tree were in just standin there. So I get the camera on the tree arm and wait about another 30 mins for camera light. The moon really was bright on the section of woods we sit in. Well I film the buck for a lil and he walks off. He was about a 120" 7 point pretty neat deer( only had a main beam on one side but had stickers at the base of the main beam that were about 5 inches long). Well he walks off another small 5 point walks in and a very small fawn still had a couple spots around the rear legs walks in right behind the 5 point. They end up feeding on up the one deer trail that heads north of my stand and Then here comes one of the oldest doe's ive ever seen. I film her and get about a min of preroll of her and she starts to head away so I tell brian if she comes back in and presents a fair shot to take her. Well She turned around took a couple steps towards us the turns to a slightly quartering shot for brian and he shoots. Well he made a lil mistake and shot a lil back still made a lung but hit the stomach and pulled it out the bottom. The doe ran about 30 yards and layed down and died about 10 mins later. We were gonna put a second arrow in her but did not have a shot. So we sat their and figured its only like 8 oclock lets switch ill hunt since i took my bow with me and you video well I completely didnt even think about it but brian was about 3 feet lower then me and he wasnt ever gonna reach the camera. Well dont you know it by the time I did realize this at about 845ish there was a doe underneath us and I was like brian you ready and hes like no I cant reach the camera. I was like o ok and I move the camera to the deer turn it on and as im bringin my hand back to the bow, and the ol girl caught me snorted once and took off. Then we heard what we thought was a grunting sound but wasnt sure and I we looked for awhile and didnt see anything. So about 10 mins later i look up the hill and just catch a really nice buck crossin the quad trail above us and I got 4 seconds of film of him with the camera. well about and hour later the woods just died so we called a end to the hunt. We go get something to eat and checked out a new lil patch of woods that brian got permission to hunt on thursday and the trees were all tore up so we just got even more excited. Well we get back in the woods at a spot brian has and Im not really diggin it so we move about 75 yards up the hill and sit their. Well i dont know if that was a dumb idea or what happened but we didnt see squat other then a cat, ground hog and a squirrel.

Well that was my first day and ill be out in the morning tomm monday the 19th tryin to get us 50 points hopefully tomm will be the day. ill have a video or a couple pics up in the next day or two

Hey Ron, welcome to the team. I hope your wife is doing better and has a speedy recovery.
88, what the __ ? you overslept? Now you have to redeem yourself and slap some points on the board! Don't scare the bucks away in the meantime.
I had a couple of fun season opener days. I hunted with a couple of good friends which always makes it a great time. The weather was really cool but I had to deal with some rain, not a big deal. Came away with just under an hour of video and will post a much condensed video link for you all soon. Saw a lot of doe and some small bucks. The big guys we were looking for never showed up. Imagine that!! Not sure when I'll get out again.
Who's hunting now or this coming weekend? Speak up! Oh, and I don't mean to make you feel bad if your season doesn't open until Oct 01. Sorry.

I'm still around, just figured that I would check in and see how things are going.

Season is quickly approaching and I have been spending a majority of my free time shooting the bow and making sure everything is dialed in. Saturday my buddy and I made some tuning adjustments to our bows and though they were tuned pretty well to begin with, after some adjustments....WOW. I took 6-4 shot groups tonight at 50 yards, and kept every arrow in a 2.5" circle. Season can't get here fast enough.

Hey Magnet, you ARE ready for some serious action now.

Okay guys, I know you all have been waiting very patiently for my video from
last week. Well, all the tape has been cut and edited, spliced and respliced. So
if you are really bored and want to watch 15 minutes of bambi and a few small
bucks roaming around, here it is. There is no blood, gore or flying arrows here.
Maybe in the next video though. Click HERE to take a look.

Awesome video Clay! Looks very professional! Maybe someday we'll hook up and you can show me the tricks to good videos. I'd love not just to have one of my hunts videoed, but also my son's. He shot a beautiful buck last season and "somebody" not mentioning any names got the entire thing on video right up until the shot! My wife has since fired me from video duties and said I must learn from someone how to video properly before I'm allowed to try it again!!

Ron, I almost got fired this spring when I was filming my youngest son shoot his first turkey. It was going okay, had two toms racing into the deeks. As I zoomed in to get a closer shot of the birds I started watching my son to make sure all was well, not knowing that I had zoomed all the way in and totally loosing the birds in the camera. Then, of course, he shoots as I tell him to pick whichever one he wanted. We both rolled on the floor laughing as we watched the replay. Freak'n halarious!!
Sevi, I'll fling some arrows if something walks in that might score 120 or so for the team. After that I can start plucking the freaky antlered ones. We have a few with a single blade on one side and 4 points on the other. - Weird stuff, but still legal with our 4 pt antler restriction.

Just checking in with everyone... For those that have already had the thrills of opening day I hope all is well and you are seeing deer! For those that are starting this weekend I wish you the best of luck! We are out to a slow start but I have a feeling this team will put some points up on the board!!!!

Hey guys and gals, my opener is Saturday. I'll be out there in my double bull sitting along a well traveled trail. I've got pics of does walking right past the blind on a daily basis so they are OK with it. I hope to post LDPs saturday morning!
(LDP= Laying down picture or dead deer!)
