OK, finally have a few minutes to type something up. Work has been ridiculous lately and unrelentless, going on my 16th straight day tomorrow and then a much needed 5 days off for my birthday. All that said.... My name is Clinton, primarily hunt in Morgan County which is in west central IL. I would love to speak of my hunting prowess and countless hours of scouting and land management, but truth be told I am blessed to have a generous uncle that allows me to hunt some great land. I hunt on 60-70 acres and every year I am afforded a glimpse at a true IL giant. Largest deer I have seen on stand has been in the 160's, but have seen a mosnster in a neighboring field as I left. At the time I felt 180's and still believe it was an accurate guess, but never seen it again. Hunting a small piece of land has taught me a few things and overhunting was the biggest lesson. Now I will pretty much sit out most of October and go in full throttle early November during my vacation. This year November 3rd to the 12th is my rutcation, the 12th I will likely be going ti a Steelers game in Indy so I'll have 9 days to get it done. Been rambling on a bit so I'll get to the picture of my best bow kills. Tore my rotator cuff back in '15 and retore it this year so will be with a crossbow for the 3rd year. 2011, thick, narrow and tall 9, scored him in the mid 140's but missed a mass measurement. One on the polaris with bow in hand. 2013 129 4/8 8 point 2016 finally got in the 200pt club in the contest, 150 and change. My best buck to date amd hoping this year brings something bigger. My goal is a a big clean 10, been my goal for 6 years now and have only seen two in that time. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

Tim and Jason are those last years bucks? Clinton those are some nice deer! My name is Bryan Kern and I primarily hunt northeastern MN. The areas I hunt are all big woods with zero ag. It can be tough hunting but every once in a while a guy can get lucky. I will be making a trip to South Dakota at the end of October and that will probably be my best chance to put any significant points on the board (think 130+). I killed a muley that was around 110-120 on that trip last year. So far at home I have pictures of one buck that made it through last season. This year I believe he is a 3 year old. I will post a pic when I get a chance. I had another buck that was going to be 5 this year get taken out by a car this winter. So right now the hitlist is pretty limited but anything can happen. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and following along with their seasons. Good luck to all!
Also, I will post frequently in this thread but once the "2017 Live from the Stand" thread gets going I will be posting in that on a regular basis while in stand. A lot of people post in it, a lot of people despise it I live far enough from the property I hunt that I do a lot of all day sits even when it is counterproductive to do so(overhunting), just because I want to hunt both morning and evening. Either way, even during the rut you do not have non stop action and I like to occuoy my time. It's a good time and fun interacting with others while in stand.
Aaron Jones checking in from north east Texas. Obviously that's my name haha I am 22 years old. I just graduated college in may, and I am getting married on October 7. I tried and I tried to get it out of deer season but I did not prevail. Haha Anyways, I graduated college with a bachelors in criminal justice. I hope to become a Texas game warden. I am currently in the background check for them now. I hope to move on through and get a job offer! We will see here soon! As for hunting, I will be hunting in September in Maryland on public land, then I will be hunting Texas and arkansas public land this year. I have shot some good bucks in Arkansas and I hope to get on another one this year. So far in Texas, I have been stumped on public land. I am determined to get one down this year, I have done quite a bit of scouting this year and I am going to kayak in to the spot. I will literally be undetectable with the right wind. Last year, in my team, we got together in group me and had a team chat going. If you guys want to do something like that we will get it hooked up. Can't wait to meet all of you guys and to see what hits the ground this year! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Those are the bucks that I shot last year. I did shoot them both with a gun but this year, I will be strictly bow hunting. I could have shot the top on with a bow if I had it, I had him at 35 yards in the oachita national forest in Arkansas. The bottom buck is the one a shot in Texas on private land. I don't think I'm going to hunt there anymore because of my fiancé's father will be hunting there as well. He got mad because I shot "his" deer. lol anyways it isn't worth the headache. I have a couple of nice bucks on public land that I'm really going to start getting after! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
