Actually shot my first deer today... With a rifle. I believe I made a bad shot and hit low in the shoulder. Was shaking so bad! He actually came in too about 20 yards and I would of had a clear bow shot. My scope was ranged at 100 so I tried to aim a little low... Apparently it was too low . I was way to excited so I started tracking to early. I jumped him atleast twice :/ marked my last spot and am going back in the am with 3 other people to look some more. Man I hope I don't lose my first deer!
Well, after 4hrs of 3 of us searching we found nothing. I believe I screwed it up yesterday by tracking to early. We spread out 3 wide and covered a good 2+sq miles around where he was hit.
Only blood I found yesterday. No new blood today. Don't have time to bow hunt next weekend but I'm going to drive out there again and look for buzzards or crows.
Low shoulder is a good shot. What kind of blood did you find? Was there any hair, meat or stomach contents? Too bad you can't find it. Is there any creeks around? Look there if there is. Good luck.
It was a bright red blood. Where I shot him, there was no blood. Only a little meat and hair. I didn't find the first drop of blood for about 50 yards and a about 50 yards after that I found a chunk of what I thought was bone. When I went back to find it the next day it was gone so Im not for sure if it was. There are 2 creeks, walked a good length on both of them. Will chalk this one up to a lesson learned. Give it some time before tracking.
What's going on? Anybody hunting? I've got until Dec. 31st to get two more deer. I can get another buck and a doe. I will be hunting during primitive firearms season with my bow. Went out to day but only saw turkey. They were acting kind of weird, jumping around and flapping their wings. They were about 75 yards away so I couldn't tell if anything was after them. I just saw them jumping and flapping.
I not going to get out again until the 28th. I have from the 28th till the 1st to get one. There is a doe with a bad leg that I realy want to try for. My in-laws are going up to their land today so I'll get to see if the decent 8 made it through gun season. Learned a good lesson this week, I won't be using a loop any more. Sure did get surprised when it snapped & I punched myself in the mouth. Why I feel the need to have the bow set at 70# I don't know. After looking the string over I got it replaced too. Resighted in my pins with the new string and no loop. Want to get 60 or so more arrows in on the new string before I take it in the woods. Can't wait till after Christmas.
I'm tagged out gents.. haven't hunted since November 14th.. might get out once or twice late season for a doe.. but I enjoy my time with the kid more. Good luck on your season boys.. we're actually not out yet.. we just need a little luck.
Gave my area and myself a little rest. I moved one of my stands Sunday and haven't hunted since. Friday I'm planning on hunting there. Lots of sign. :0)
Hey guys, been working a lot lately....waiting to get back out! Hope everyone has a great Christmas though!
Looks like my season is over. Sucks I couldn't help the team. Season ends here on 12/31. If we don't go out of town for new years I may head out New years eve morning for one last sit. We will see.
Well after battling the flu for 3 days I think I'll be ready for a little trip to western Illinois... Sunday to Tuesday, big buck is goin down!
Sorry to hear you were sick Brad. Nail a monster. I've got one day left but I can get a Buck or doe so if it's brown it's down. Sent from my LG-P925 using Tapatalk
