Maybe we should all send him a pm to let him know we need him on the team.

I'll post our updates on the team list thread. Fitz will fill the spots with alternates from the alternate sign-up list.

It happens a lot ever year (people signing up and not coming back).

    Patience is a virtue fellas.

I'm Goosepond Monster. I live in Monroe County in southern Indiana. That is the heart of Hoosier Nation for those not familiar. I don't have any pictures of bucks to share, because I couldn't honestly tell you the last time I checked my trail cameras. I shot my first buck last fall, so if I'm going to shoot one this fall it will have to be bigger than that one.

I'm a meat hunter first, so I'm hoping to put down a doe or two this season. The Indiana urban season opens on 9/15 and I'm hoping to get the day off work so I can find my way into a tree stand.

    Thanks, fellas.

I'll be upfront and say that I may not be as active on the forum as I have been in the past. I started a new job at the beginning of the year and I am in the middle of switching to a new software system and things are a bit hectic.

With the 3 kids in college this year and NC allowing 6 deer (not more than 2 antlered where I hunt) this year will be a 'if it's brown, it's down' year for me, so long as they don't have spots still. Gotta fill the freezer.

Since I hunt public, and work WAY out of town, I don't run trail cams. I did see a few decent bucks last year and regretted not taking 1 particular shot.

I have about 3 solid spots:

Furthest away (75 minute ride 1 way). CRP/Wood edge, I checked out a month ago after a heavy overnight rain and was able to confirm I knew where I needed to be, super fresh tracks and ended up jumping a doe nearby. Good spot for a North or East wind.

My goto spot is a river bottom, 40 minutes away, good oaks, shot at two only to realize my site was, um, foobared. VERY THICK though. Pic below, you can see my red lit nock through the "D" shaped vine. First pic is zoomed in, second is zoomed out. I need to pick up my game the next 3 weeks to be ready here. I can hunt in any wind but an East wind here, but I have a bail out that is a .5 mile hike if it's an East wind. Probably saw 40 deer here during the archery season last year. I hang my stand in a nice oak. I bought an LW extension strap this year as I could barely get hang the first step. This particular spot was where I saw an 8 and a 9 stroll out at 35 yds, but regret not taking the shot.

Spot 3 is a hike. About a mile in and on a small mountain. The area was burned late some a year ago, so I didn't hunt this spot last year. Late in the season last year, I did recon the back side of the mountain. I found a nice spot with water that I can hunt with all but a South wind, my only concern is building up some sweat/scent on the long hike in.

Finally, tomorrow will be a fun day, getting together with a few guys on here including StickandString, his wife, 2 other guys and a bunch of others for the Carolina Archers and Bowhunters 2nd annual get together
