If we end up with a no show my brother wants in on our team. He is hunting Grundy County, IL and he is on some fine bucks.
Howdy guys!!! I'm still a novice, but I'm doing all I can to be the best hunter I can. I shot my first deer last year, and it was a crappy year around this area in IL. Nobody I know did good last year. I have lots of good pics and have been seeing loads of deer in daylite hours. I'm hoping for a GREAT harvest this year. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend. Be safe
Glad to see you made it rknierim. My Dad's best friend lived in Effingham, I used to go down there to fish with him on Lake Sara and Shelbyville. Now we just need HIDE-A-BOW, he only has one post and it was to sign up for the contest
team 27 So who is the Captain of the team? I'm just looking for some advice and info. Being that I'm still new to forums and team hunting, I really don't want to screw anything up. And hey, a few new good friends are always a bonus to any situation too :D
Tony sounds good to me, too... I just checked two of my cameras, and got 3 bucks on one of them. Nothing too special though, 120-130" 9 or 10 point, and one that might break 140 maybe. They have some potential for next season or the 2 seasons from now. I wont be able to check my honey hole spots until tomorrow, I have a foosball game to attend.
Just got home and downloaded pics to my laptop. and all i can say is OMG, October can't get here fast enough. here's a ten we have a ton of pics of and now the new boys VERY excited!
Looks like you guys got some good bucks running around.. Less than two weeks from the opener here. I'll be rushing home from classes opening afternoon to try to get a sit in opening evening. Either way I'll be in a tree at least Friday morning (9/16)- Sunday morning. I'll be at a farm that I have no hope in even seeing a legal buck, but I think I have a decent chance at a doe that weekend. We'll see!
Good luck Kyle, looks like he is coming in during daylight sometimes, hopefully you get a shot. Rory- slay some does opening day
I pulled one yesterday and had 99 pictures, not one buck. I dont get it!! I have never had such a lack of bucks on cameras, ever. I see them in the fields feeding, but its like they are camera shy!! I'm off to Colorado in 4 days to chase elk and then Minnesota will be open when I get back. Tis the season.....
Ok Team drop and give me 20 push ups. lol Jas you started the thread so you are automatic captain. EH
Tony...just finished the push-ups! Was going to pull cameras this weekend, but they are 2.5 hours away and I will be there for the opener in two weeks anyways so no pics here like the rest of ya'll. Been shooting broadheads for about a week now and they are shooting GREAT! Also, I agree with everyone regarding the avatar. Great job! Back to the garage now to do a brake job on the daily driver...good times.
I likely won't check any cameras until the last weekend of September or even early October. That'll be the first time I'll be hunting the farm I have mine on. May check them after classes one day before then but I'll probably wait.
Placing a camera in a spot where my dad and I have permission to hunt. He tagged a monster 6 point a few years ago. There is very little hunting pressure so might be a great spot come late october to rattle in a buck, like I did the first time I hunter that place.
Well I checked some cameras today, and I'm kind of disappointed. My batteries died the day I put the camera out where I was getting the 2 big bucks, so it was just the P.O.S Cuddeback taking pictures there (I have both cameras next to each other, just for comparison). But I got 960 or so pictures in my other spot on the same property, and the good buck there showed up quite a bit, mostly during daytime hours.
Gooooooooooooood morning guys! Chilly here this morning. I wish I could sleep for 24 more days. Will October 1st EVER get here?! lol
