Good luck Rory! After this weekends antlerless gun hunt is over I will be back at it Monday with the bow. I am going to go and set out a camera on a piece I haven't hunted since Nov 4th. This piece and surrounding properties get no gun pressure at all so I hopeful that a few might be hiding in the small swamp. Good luck to all this coming late season.
Just noticed we are in 2nd place, very nice! Congrats to Doug on his buck and doe, nice mule deer. Anybody else still doing any hunting?
I'm heading out this afternoon now that the gun seasons here in Wisconsin are done until the 24th. I hope to get a Doe down and add some more meat to the freezer and get us 50 more points. I believe were at 880 right now and once Cody add my points we will be right there. Get out and hunt men!
Christmas break for me starts Thursday.. I'll have any day the final month of the season to hunt. Hoping to get us at least 50....
I am wrapping up the plans for what looks like the last hunt for me. With Christmas and this damn cataract surgery and getting ready for the shows I only have time for one more hunt. Looks like I will be in Buffalo County WI December 27th and 28th. Good luck every one we are so close.
Everyone, sorry I have not checked in a while. I have some points for us to add to our total! He was not the buck I was after, but this guy made the mistake of walking past me while I was extemely depressed (or was it pissed off?) about blowing an opportunity at a buck of a lifetime earlier in the day. Unfortunately, the pics are all on my buddies camera who is currently on his honeymoon in Hawaii (with his camera). I sure hope he does not delete my pics to take uncensored photos/videos of his honeymoon! Also, I have not measured out the rack yet, but will do so before my buddy returns in 2 weeks. I am most likely done bow-hunting this year. Might go out for a late-seaosn gun hunt with my Dad as he is trying to get some meat in the freezer this year. Jason, I never made it over to the estate to hunt near the racetrack this year. Actually, I did very little local hunting this year with work and family commitments.
Ok I have stirred the pot a little bit with team #6 with the following song and video. I posted the link for their theme song on there page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSKrSdAWoi4&sns=fb lol hehehehe
Well heading out this weekend for what might be my last hunt of the season. Havn't been out there since last weekend in Nov. So have no idea what to expect. We havn't had much snow here in Michigan, what is a total shock, so they may be hitting some fields by me. Can't wait to be back in the stand with my bow.
Tom here is the buck we talked about and I'm after but I need to shoot a doe first. Next year he may be something special for sure. Thoughts?
Haven't been out bow hunting lately since WI gun and muzzleloading season just ended. Hoping to get out tomorrow morning and a lot more during the late season. Good luck to everyone still hunting.
Tony he is something special right now! Although I think he BLOW up in an absolute MONSTER next year if he makes it. Looking at him I would say he will really pack on the mass next year.
Tony, if you are hunting the CWD zones or even anywhere in WI, your first deer can be a buck this year. Previous years you had to earn-a-buck in the CWD zones, but this year the WI DNR is allowing us hunters to take a buck FIRST and then earn-a-buck after your initial buck. If this does not make sense give me a call on my cell (815)219-0205. Also, my buddy returns from his honeymoon on the 29th so I will be able to post pics around the weekend of New Year's eve. Good luck everyone! I have been out a few times over the past week. My camera only had one deer on it over the past 2 weeks. In the fresh snow we got Fri evening I was unable to locate a single deer track Sat evening and Sun AM. I am thinking I might be about done for the year 'cause it is rather frustrating when you can't even find a single track in snow on 110 acres of land here in IL!!! I might hunt one more day in WI so I can also pull my stands off of the property I hunt. Do you guys ever do well in the late season? I have never killed a deer after the gun season that is the weekend before Thanksgiving. I really think it is the properties I hunt in IL. It seems like once gun season gets here you can not even find a deer track until around March. Apparently, I do not have access to ground that holds "wintering" deer.
Mike I already shot a buck with my first deer. I need to shoot a doe now so I can get after a buck I have on a cam. I have shot a doe in the late season and I currently have a spot where no gun hunting has occured. Thanks for the update Mike.
Moving on up Wow my 15 minutes are here. lol http://www.bowhunting.com/publisher/Hunting-News/2011/12/20/Never-Give-Up-on-a-Wounded-Deer
