Well, crap! I never scored one myself and didn't want to screw up, so tried to be on the conservative side. Guessed I screwed myself anyway. I'll see what I can do to set things right. Sorry team
Congrats!!! I forgot to post my buck here boys sorry about that. I will have some more pics and long ass story in a day or two plus the score.
Of course the does really start coming out of the woodwork when I get a gun in my hand. Saw 8 yesterday and had 4 of them within twenty yards. Today I saw a spike this morning and then just had a different spike come through. My dad shot about a 120-125 inch eight last night that we've gotten on camera te last couple years. Hopefully a big boy shows his face tonight so I can get to duck hunting and then back to bowhunting after the 22nd.
Well guys sorry to say but no matter the outcome of looking for my buck tomorrow I think I'm done for the year. No blood where I shot him at 65 yards from my stand, but did find very little blood where he ran down into. Looked like bright red bubbly lung blood. That was it. Couldn't even get a direction of travel. He's a buck I've been after for two seasons and this year is an absolute stud. I felt as confident as ever squeezing the trigger on the shot but I don't have much confidence anymore with what we found. Going to go back out after class tomorrow and have a good five hours to grid search for him. If he crossed the river there's no way for me to find him or even go after him. He's the buck I posted a trail camera picture of a couple pages back.
Congrats Tony and everyone else who has had success lately. Had a slow week in central IL hunting public land. Saw plenty of deer every day, but they would not cooperate overall. I did see a 160-170" monarch, but he bolted after watching me place my 6th different stand location of the week. I believe I had found his bedroom and he busted me setting up a stand on it's boundaries. If I hunt this property again I believe I have found an area that few if any people hunt. I see we can LEGALLY bow hunt the WI gun season this year so I have convinced myself that I will be carrying my bow and blaze camo orange this coming weekend versus my .300 WSM. My hunting buddies think that I am an idiot, but truthfully most of the deer I have shot in WI during gun season are within bow range.
This has been the slowest season for me ever. Nothing this morning or last night. Nobody saw a shooter the four days I was in Vegas. Something has to start moving soon. Shotgun starts Friday then back to hunting twice a week.....this blows!
Went out with my little brother this morning. We saw 1 good doe, 1 yearling doe, and one small buck. After I got home, 2 deer walked across the field on other side of road from my house. They're moving pretty good here. I think I'll try for one more this season. That will make an even half dozen this year. Freezer is full
Good grief! Couldn't get out to hunt tonite but saw 9 deer hanging out within a cpl hundred yards of the house. Buck and doe only bout 100 yrds from on of our stands. Figures! Guess I'll have to go out tomorrow nite before gun season starts. Anybody got any extra room in freezer? Mine is full to the top. 5 deer down so far this season. Too bad we can only get points for one of each. Good luck to everyone
With Peak buck and the buck Tom puts down in Kansas(fingers crossed) we'll be right back in the lead. Keep at it boys. I hope to put down a late season doe once Minnesota's gun season is over.
Congrats guys on the great bucks you have put done. I spent last weekend videoing for my brother, it was his first time out bowhunting this season. We saw a couple nice bucks but no shots. Looks like I will be still trying for my buck late season which is fine with me cause I love hunting in the snow.
With no disrespect, how do you figure? Even with Peak's deer (AWESOME JOB TONY! Congrats, my brother!), and the hope that Tom will be successful in Kansas, how will you overcome the current Team 6 score and Colby's, PT's, and my doe? Do the math.... Tom would have to shoot a 300 inch deer. Just saying...... You fellas need to step it up! Stop rubbing yourselves with "hopeful" lotion and apply more elbow grease!
It's been a slow season for me, luckily i got my doe on opening morning of bow. I've been out every weekend since Oct 1st, and have had nothing in bow range, since my doe. I saw some nice bucks but they never made their way over. With 1 weekend left of shotgun season here in MI, I'll be out with my bow maybe in the next few weeks. I'd love to get any thing down, looking for some meat as of now. Will keep everyone updated if something drops :P
Well after shooting the buck I've been after for a couple years and not being able to find him a couple weeks ago I'm finally starting to get the urge to deer hunt again. Next weekend I may go out in hopes of a doe.
Sorry guys Kansas did not turn out like I had hoped. Did see some great bucks but things just did not work out. Sorry I havent checked in earlier. Had about a 160" buck the first night we hunted at 23 yards broadside but I had a camera in my hand instead of my bow. I lost a coin toss and was the camera man. The 2 days later I was helping a friend with a flat tire and we got out a few hours later than we would have liked for the evening hunt. After we just hung my stand I was knealing on my platform trying to get my camera arm strapped in when a definite BOONER walks by at 25 yards. He got into the thicket before I could even attempt a shot. How I wish we were in stand when usually would be. But that is hunting, the tough part is the video camera cost me 2 beautiful bucks in 3 days. I am down to 2 tags 1 for muzzleloader in WI and 1 bow for late season bow in WI. Hopefully I can still help the team out.
