Well no deer sightings for me this weekend unfortunately. It was still a good weekend though, starting to get trail camera pictures of a lot of different bucks, and my dad bow killed his first deer ever yesterday morning. Corn's being flooded, so they won't be bedding in there anymore, duck season opens next Saturday, which will also drive a lot of deer onto this farm. Things are looking up. We just started hunting this farm last year, but man it's been hard to figure out. Anyone have any luck?

I bumped a big buck walking to my stand on Friday afternoon. 150-160" big-bodied deer. Unfortunately, he was on conservation land that I was walking along. Saw nothing (again) while in stand. Have not been out since due to some family obligations. This afternoon was going to be open, but we have gale-force winds here right now so I am will be taking a pass on this afternoon

X2 on the wind, I will be back out tomorrow. This year was the first year I allowed a Halloween Party to ruin my damn Saturday and Sunday morning. I'm fighting with the wife now because she wants me here when the cleaning lady shows up tomorrow, her penalty will be dealing with Trick or Treaters while I am out hunting. Tuesday through November the morning of the 10th are free and clear...... Tomorrow is looking good for my new stand and I might use a decoy to lure the big guys out of the bedding area....

Was gonna head out this afternoon with a W wind but decided I have too much to do for my classes tomorrow.. May go Wednesday depending on the weather, and then I'll be out Fri. Sat. Sun. Should be a lot of deer running around with the duck opener being Sunday.

Got out this AM before work. Beautiful morning with no wind and a good hard frost. Saw 1 squirrel, 2 blue jays and a bunch of sparrows. No deer. Pulled down my stand and sticks to pack up for next week's trip to central IL. Going to try to get out at least one evening this week on the small property where I got pics of Cyclops. Just need a N or E wind to hunt that property.

Good luck everyone...we are entering the time of the year that we wait for ALL year long for bow hunting. Be safe!

I leave in the morning for 17 days between my lease in SE MN and Kansas. It is time to stop messing around, I need to put a giant on the ground. I am not sure how this will work out exactly but Saturday thru Tuesday is our gun season here in MN. Hopefully I shoot one before that, but if not I will be carrying my slug gun for that. Sorry guys hope I dont cost us any points.

Planning on hunting tomorrow afternoon. Strong south winds and have a couple good spots for that wind direction. Going to be warm but it's still that time of year so I know the bucks will be on their feet.

Dave1.jpg Dave2.jpg Dave3.jpg A guy I work with got these pics in his backyard (5-10 acres) on the IL/WI border. He has never seen this deer, but as you can imagine he has called in sick today after checking his camera last evening after work!!!

Awesome Jason congrats! I almost got us 50 also. Hunted a spot I've never hunted before and ended up with a doe at 25 yards with no shooting lanes whatsoever.

Shot the doe at 20 yards, had to punch it through a tight spot while she started quartering away. I was at full draw three times in a 12' ladder stand before she gave me a shot.

Today started with a 1 1/4 mile hike and me nearly killing a doe until a 115" 8 showed up pushing her. Got out at 10 and walked back then drove to a friends to use his tools to change the brakes on my truck. Got home and finally ate and then back to the spot at 3:45. Jumped this doe while walking in and decided to wait it out to see if she would return and 45 minutes later she was down 50 yards from my stand. She appears to be a 2 1/2 year old and from what it looked like just kicked off the youngins. Had to drag her 300 yards through a muddy field to where I could get her gutted and loaded.

I am beat but planning on hunting in the morning, they killed two deer tonight where I wanted to hunt including a 4 year old 6 point. The 140 class ten I have been hunting was spotted along with 9 other bucks. Gonna sit in a huge oak in the morning where the pass through to see if I can get a buck on the ground.

    Congrats again Jason!

I also shot a doe last night, but no more points from me. A minute after I shot her, a 145-150" buck came through. He looked like he was pretty young still, not much mass and his body was kind of small. He was real wide though, and had a bunch of points off his bases. I may have a video of him after I swap cards in my camera.

Good luck to everybody going out this weekend, hope everyone gets something!

This past week I suffered and extremely horrible case of ground shrinkage!!!!! I hunted all week and it was a very tough hunt. To summaraize the rut activity in my area, On thursday evening I was overlooking a freshly picked cornfield and saw two, year and a half old bucks that ignored a few does in the field. With an hour of shooting light left, I had 15 does and fawns in front of me in the field (no shots unfortunately) and not a single buck even came out to give them a sniff. It just wasn't happening on my farms. So without further ado, a 116 3/8 buck. At first I was a little down, but as the week wore on and buck sightings were non existant, he fills the freezer just fine. I decided I'm happy :)

Way to go raceway...another 50!!! I'm done hunting for November but December I'm back at it once all of Minnesota's firearms seasons are over.

Great buck congrats! I finally saw what I've been after this morning. BIG buck chasing a doe, but never came closer than 150 yards unfortunately. Didn't have binocs with me, so I don't know if he's one that we have on camera or not. I checked a couple cameras this morning and the other spot I thought about hunting had one come through at 715 this morning, not a big rack but a big body and roman nose. Mature deer. I'm hunting this evening, tomorrow morning, maybe Monday evening, all day Friday, and then Saturday gun season starts. I won't be bow hunting again until late November. Rut should still be in full swing where I hunt at in MO though.

Going to be hunting Friday. Calling for a wind I have been waiting for to get into a spot that I have multiple shooters coming through day and night time. Hopefully the wind stays the same.
