Took the weekend off, going to hit it hard on thursday night till sunday morning. Can't wait to be back in the woods. May be some big changes with the leaves changing. Hope a lot of leaves have dropped.
Good luck guys! I will be hunting tomorrow afternoon after my exams. My friend just asked if I wanted him to film me, so that will be pretty cool. I have never deer hunting on camera before, only turkey. Hopefully get one down on film
Good luck Cole! Don't think I did too bad on the exam this morning. Gonna head out in about two hours and be in the stand by about 2:00.
Just checked the weather report again, they have it going from a SSW to a WSW to a straight E all within a couple hours.. No idea where to hunt now..
Guys, what are you studying to become post-graduation? You make me anxious everytime I read about exams. I am all shaky and palms are sweating as I type this. Damn test anxiety!!!
Im studying Food Science, mostly geared towards food safety. One of my tests was a HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) exam. Im hoping to start a small business dealing with food safety of game meat, things like that. I'm 3/4 the way done with my 4 year degree, and hopefully go on to further degrees.
Well we got a doe on film tonight. First we had a small 5 point come in from the wrong way, and he blew and blew when he caught our scent. Then about 30 minutes later, we had 5 does come down the road which comes by 30 yards from where we hung our stands. The first doe came in and I missed her She came by at 26 yards, and I forgot my second pin was actually about a 35 yard pin (even though my 20 is touching it ) We watched the footage later, and it turns out I would have hit her high but she ducked right as I released. So it was actually a good thing she ducked. Luckily, she didn't know what just happened and kind of just looked around. The doe following her came right to the log I ranged at 30 earlier. I released on her, and watched the Nockturnal fly through her and skip across the ground behind her. She ran about 30 yards and fell into a creek bed and died. All in all a very successful first time filmed hunt, even though the miss is a little embarrassing lol. I would try and get the footage up on here, but we have no idea how to. The camera doesn't have any cords and I don't even know what the memory card looks like that it uses. Maybe we will figure it out. The pictures are a little bloodier than I would like them, but it happens. Just goes to show the results of a Rage
Thanks Jim. This will be the 10th deer hung up in the shed, but I still haven't actually processed one completely in it. I need to get on the ball and get the stainless steel sink cleaned up and put in, and build a countertop. Then I can completely process my first one. Thanks for all the congrats via texts last night guys, I got kinda busy and couldn't reply until late.
Congrats on the doe!!! Seems we just keep pulling farther and farther ahead of the other teams. Lets keep up the good work guys
Awesome Cole! Stacking up the points for us!! Got a 9-9:50 tomorrow then going to probably hunt tomorrow evening and Thursday morning, going to watch the weather though..
Well heading out tomorrow after work, for the weekend. Been out of the woods since my doe, and can't wait to see the changes to the woods. Many leaves should have fallen. Can't wait! hopfully can get a buck with in range. good luck to anyone else going out this weekend.
Well got about 15 minutes til shooting light. Perfect wind for the stand I'm in overlooking a food plot that they cruise through coming from the Ag fields to bed. Hoping these clouds move through without raining though.
I wish.. No deer even seen. It's been a slow year for me so far. Did finally get another good buck on camera though. I think I know who it is from last year.
Same here, it has been slowwwww. I didn't go out this week since I had a bad cold and the action was non existent. I plan on heading out in the Morning and Afternoon tomorrow and Saturday.
