Sat yesterday evening. Saw 13 and two jakes. One small 4 point. No shots on the doe as they stuck to the west side of the plot. No Sunday hunting here, but my dad glassed that same plot this morning and saw a solid 8. Figures :)

Well 5 more nights of work then it's back to hunting! Only thing that sucks is I need to figured out where to go since my cams have been very slow with the standing milo around the places I hunt! Also got to hope the farmer I help is about done with harvest so I can get off work at a decent time and still be able to hunt my week off instead of just hunting the weekend!!!

Well plan for Sunday is as, hunt stand I set as my opener, if it doesn't pan out I'll move it where every evening on way home I see a group of Doe's cross road on my lease same place and time every evening. I know exactly where there coming from, I love starting out with a good freezer filler!

Got out yesterday and finally put a blind in a spot I've wanted to for a few years. It's really close to a bedding area and was always nervous to get to close in fear of busting them out. It's next to a low spot in a bean field that the deer feel comfortable coming out in. Next good wind I'll be trying it out. The standing corn on the neighboring property is still holding most of my deer but after its cut most of them will bed in this area next to the beans.

Looking good guys! I've been out three times and have seen quite a few does and a few nice 1.5yr old bucks. Plenty of turkeys as well. Waiting for a great shot on a doe and some cooler weather. I have to sit out tomorrow unfortunately. I have a baby class from 9-4 :D Might sneak in an afternoon hunt if there's time.

    Good luck!

Im a no good story teller so feel free to skip to the end lol, but here goes.
Well fellas I have had the single beat weekend of bowhunting ever.
Started yesterday morning with seeing 4 young bucks, all that I would have shot given a good opportunity, but where I was hunting is really thick, and even though they were at 20 yards for a while, no shot. I ended up seeing more deer than I have in the other 9 or so sits combined.
Went back in last night and got skunked, didn't see a deer!
Back to the same spot this morning, spook 5 just getting to my stand. About 8 am I glance over and see the bucks from yesterday walking away. Remember, very thick! I grab my grunt call and try a few grunts and a mature deer comes back into an opening, paws up a scrape, and dissapears. I thought he walked away, but his young friends were still there. After 3 or 4 minutes I try another grunt. He advances, makes a couple more scrapes, and gave me a 30 yard shot through the one tiny opening I had. I completely flubbed and caught him behind the ribs....
While beating myself up, and giving him ample time to lay down, a doe walks up at 8 yards and gives me the perfect shot, so I take a chance. She made it maybe 40 with a perfect heart shot. First deer iv ever gotten to watch go down!
2 hours after I shot the buck I get down out of the tree, gut my doe and carry, not drag, her out so I don't disturb the buck.
Fast forward to 6.5 hours after the shot and back in we go. I start finding blood right after my arrow, and while I'm following that, my dad goes ahead and checks a creek about 60 yards away and lo and behold, there he lies! My biggest buck with a bow, a 5.5 year old 7 point with no brow tines! Also the first day I have ever doubled up!

I ended up seeing at least 6 different bucks in 2 days, which is really rare for this area, and probably a total of 15 deer. Hunting big woods, that's a lot of deer!

Thanks guys. After looking at it a bit closer, tooth wear pattern looks a lot more like 6.5 year old. Old deer for public land.
I'll get scores up in the thread later today when I have a chance to get a tape on him.
    Good luck out there guys!

Congratulations! Great looking buck! And tender looking doe! Sounds like you an amazing day in the stand and one you will never forget. Way to get it done.

Hope you got two pics of each!

Thanks guys. Iv been 4 years without a buck with my bow, so it sure felt good to get one under my belt, especially a good old buck.
I put the tape on him earlier and he comes up to 122 6/8. Actually surprised me that he scored that good, but for me, score is not very important anyway.
Good luck out there guys. I just spent 4 hours processing, will probably take a few days off from hunting now, but will be back at it before the weekend. The joy of living in a state with ample tags !
