yeah I've been on a $0 budget for hunting this year. I've had to sell a lot of old stuff I no longer used but I've been nearly able to stick to it.
I think next I'm going to get the real thick compression fleece baselayer. That stuff looks really good.

I finally picked up the last card that I had never pulled since Sept, today. There were 360+ pics on it and just a lot of "decent" bucks. There were none even close to the caliber of OMG!.

BTW, I picked up three cards from one of the MO properties across the road from OMG's typical hangout and got him on two of those back around the 6th of november...the guy covers ground.

It's pretty windy here too. I was out all morning and getting ready to head back out. I saw 4 does but no good shot.

I'm pretty torn on where to sit. I want to get in my "kill" stand but the wind is all wrong. I have less faith in the "swamp stand" but the wind is right for it.

Ya it's crazy up here. Super windy, snow falling sideways and colder than mars.

    Mother*****er!
Went down to tend cameras and feeders this morning and the east neighbor drove in. I've never met the guy, he's around 30 and seems like a good guy...big time deer hunter so you probably have an idea where this is going.....

He took OMG! opening morning of MO rifle season last weekend.:throw:
He had him scored and gentlemen, that deer officially scored (green) 198"..... I literally feel like I have been punched in the gut and kicked in the balls. I backed off of hunting him after the landlord said he wanted him and then wasn't able to hunt so far this year...

    I'm devistated and depressed.....

Was it on your property or on his? If it was on his look at it as a opportunity to show him qdm. Be like look what you took this year. If we work together we can always take monsters like this.

    Sorry to hear for you

He said that OMG was chasing a hot doe and they crossed the fence from my place over to his. He has a big tree stand just across the line and a ground blind a bit further down the fence over in his field edge. I don't really have any reason to think he shot him over on my property, OMG had all at once decided to travel a lot like all the other bucks have been doing. I got him on all three cameras on that property starting on 11/3/13 and two are not far from the east property line.

Yeah we already had that discussion and he said he'd love the chance to work with us. I congratulated him and thanked him, I'm glad a decent guy got him but it just...ughhh, it's still a gut punch. I may also have negotiated a deal to exchange some trail cam pics for the rights to one copy (at my expense) of the mount. I would be absolutely tickled to death to just have a one off copy of the bruiser. If that pans out and I get a copy for my wall...it'll be easily the next best thing to taking him myself.

Ya agreed. Having a good neighbour is so important. Look at me. My hole property I have so many parts I need to stay away from because of the damn horse back riders.

And my honey hole. Well our permission got suspended yesterday for the season. The land owner is just sick of the drama from all the neighbours. There constantly calling him and making up crap. And he had enough of dealing with it. I told him these people can't see us or hear us back there. What were they doing in here that they are so motivated to get us out of here. He areas something is fishy and said let's review it again this summer. But for rest of season no more.

Ya if I didn't have a daughter I'd move into the woods somewhere in the middle of no where in a tree house like a hermit lol

Been struggling to get on deer, but I've been back at it the last few days. Still have plenty of time to fill a tag, but it's been hard to be optimistic...still think about the big one every time I climb into a stand.

You may see that big boy again! Chances are he's still around. Did you ever find a spot where he laid down? If I remember right you didn't and that tells me it wasn't a killing shot. So chin up, those things happen. Love the whole experience.

I bought a new lock on stand a Millennium 100 I tried to get the 150 but they were out of stock. My favorite stand was my Summit Viper climber but this Millennium is awesome! I can't believe how comfortable this stand is. The only thing I don't like is I can't carry enough climbing sticks to get up to the height I like to be at. I'll figure something out though. I was sitting in this stand Saturday morning just loving life! :0)

It was really windy Saturday morning, at times the tree I was in would move 8" from side to side. I had a spike come right under my stand. He wasn't running but he was moving right along. I saw another deer about 100 yards away running with it's tail up then do an about face and run from where it came from with it's tail up. So I would say the wind had them spooked.

Well all in all it was an awesome day!

Just got off the phone with the landowner down south and I'm back in! I'll be on my way there in the morning for an all day sit! Followed up by a Tuesday all day sit if need be (hopefully not!). Pretty excited about getting back out there. I've yet to go a day without seeing deer our there.

    That's great news Indy!

I got back in a stand this evening over on the west 352 acres that is new this year. I had a beautiful young 8 point walk in behind me and rub a tree maybe ten feet behind and to my right and then walk right past me. I think he's 2.5 maybe...very young deer but beautiful, had a lot of blonde coloration, even his forehead. He'll be a stud in a few more years.

    About froze my butt off!

Ya I'm going to need to murder some coyotes before I harvest anymore deer. Cams are coming up dry... Well with deer at least. All coyotes and some big bastards. I'm going to go after them this week. Hopefully leaving me some time in late December to smack another deer.
