If you really want one for a mount or rug. Get out there in January when its cold and snowy. They make amazing coats nice and thick. And they are easy to call in that time of the year as well. Go out with a gun and you will get a nice one.

I've always had intentions of getting out after season after yotes but simply don't have the caller.

Thinking about it... I may talk to my neighbor and see if we can set up in his field

I've called them in with mouth callers.

I didn't make it out this week end. A friend needed me to help him out so hunting took the back seat. I still have plenty of time. Went out scouting yesterday and today. Not much to report. Thinking of getting another lock on. Still a few spots I haven't checked out.

To me a good call was one of the best investments I made. It's truly the only call, attractant, scent or whatever out of all hunting sports that's almost a sure thing. You will kill a lot of foxes and coyotes with it. I've even taken wolves up here. It's awesome.

So you mean like a rabbit squeal mouth call or do you have one of those fancy electronic ones?

Oh no a mouth call will work. But you need to get good at it. I spent the money on a fox pro. Remote control, set the sounds you want and sit back and get ready to shoot. Bob mouth calling is impressive and I'm sure would be more rewarding. But I already keep my duck calls in my truck when I drive to practice. I can't be practicing a rabbit crying, it will depress me lol

Ha, I drive an hour each way to work. I practice with my ducks calls on my way home. The way too is too much in the morning.

Nope..not a word. BH1988 must have gotten mad at me over the ordeal somehow or another, won't return my emails or come back to the forum....no idea what his deal is.

Good deal, glad you're back in the game....things will pick back up after this moon deal.

I'm starting to think now that he did lie and now is embarrassed to come back. I think if he came back and gave the proper score no one would judge him. Rather I think by tucking tail and running he makes himself look like a liar. It was a great buck scoring 140ish IMO. It would be a shame to let it go to waste. He should be here bragging about it.

I don't know, I don't really think it's tha tso much as maybe he wasn't about to deal with the asshats around the forum. Even if he had been fudging numbers..the maine problem was the missing C4 measurment and the rest of them all being 6". He could have just reworked them to something more plausible and accurate by remeasuring it. He probably saw the writing on the wall that a few pricks were going to be constantly causing trouble over submitted scores and just figured screw it.

    I'm about there myself.

Yes and now all our scores are being scrutinized. Whatever. As I said yesterday my bucks going on the wall and my freezer is full. That's all I care about. Forum insults don't hurt my feelings at all. I'm just annoyed to keep reading it.

Ha, of all the deer that's been submitted why anyone would pick yours to pick at is a mystery. I think there's more to the story than that but we'll probably never know. Eventually they will raise a big enough stink that everyone in the contest will have to submit a measuring video and few will mess with the contest at all from that point on. It's not like the contest is that big of a feather under a persons cap to start with.

No kidding. Eventually fitz is just gonna lose his mind and not do the contest anymore. Guys treat this like there gonna get a contract with under armour for winning this lol.

The thing that makes me laugh more. Is there too dumb to realize this competition is not won by big deer. It really isn't, it's won by volume of deer period. As mentioned before each team has 12 guys. Each guy shoots a doe and a fergie buck that team wins. The point is to drop deer and your team will win. So if we each take 3" off our scores what does that change??? Nothing. If we don't take down some does and other guys take bucks were gonna drop in rankings to a team who did.

Exactly! There are a few online games of guessing bucks scores on the hoof, pics of deer that were taken and measured. I averaged out of like 360 deer, guessing within like 11" of the correct score....I think that probably is a bit better than average at guessing scores from pics. I got ome dead on but others I was off by quite a bit, point being that it's silly to scrutinize measurments submitted when no one is realistically going to be able to guess within a very much smaller margin of error.

The only way some of these guys would be happy is if 5-10" were taken off every deer except theirs....accurate scoring isn't their problem....competition is.

I think at this point they're just giving us a hard time to get under our skin, just out of the sake of a good game. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I think if we let it go or played with it also it will blow over. If it was really bad, Fitz would have interviened already. I've known Tom (moster raxx) on here for many years and have talked to him off the site as well. He's a good dude, I think they were just having fun and it escalated. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like I said, if someone was actually going to accuse you straight up of cheating on purpose, Fitz would have layed the hammer down already.

Steve said up front he messed the score up and accidentally sent his buddy's buck so I really hope he doesn't think he will be harassed too bad. My hope is that it's at the taximermist and he can't get to it. He was very active in this thread at the beginning and from the sounds of it towards the end work was crazy. Let's just let it sit a while and hope he comes back. We'll just go on without the points and not worry about it.

You guys have been a kick butt team. This is by far the best I've ever done in the competition. I really need to step it up. I can't wait to get in the woods and be there when my big boy messes up, which I've now confirmed as an 11 point!
