My cousin shot a Buck many years ago that officially scored 193 5/8 nontypical. He was told that he could also score it as a typical or non but only offically as one or the other, but with all the deductions for nontypical points he would lose over 30 inches and it would then net in the 160's as a typical. He went with the nontypical score.

Okay so here is a copy of the PM I sent to Fitz this morning for approval (minus conversation). I don't think I posted two of these shots here yet so here they are. Better reflect the size of this amazing animal. I believe this was the biggest bodied deer I have ever taken. Unfortunately I don't have a set of scales so no weight but I bet my butt he went 250. I'm 5'11" and 198# and can bench 220# and this guy was way more than I could think about lifting in the truck and couldn't even drag him more than a few feet at a time.

Up at 330 again and today was first time I didn't see anything. Windy as hell today. I was swinging like a foot back as forth lol

You guys seeing chasing yet? I haven't seen any. You think the bucks and does are already paired up?

They are starting to chase good here. The buck I took yesterday was behind two other bucks all chasing the same doe. You're so much further north though that they may further along in the phases, I don't know.

I forgot I set up a spare trail cam I had in the truck yesterday to take pics of me and my buck. They are far better than the "selfies" I posted earlier and I think will be the ones I use in the score thread.

Hey boys need some advice. I'm rutting myself apparently, I can't refrain from getting in a tree. If you can humour me and read my 3 hour post approaching LOL and tell me what you would do. This buck is making me stir crazy.

Last Sunday - I was in tree at 5:25am. Wind was blowing from the north. 7am my target ten point walks down the trail from the north and in front of me and surprised me. By the time I got up and raised bow he kept walking into a brush area where he never came out of after. He left quietly and was not spooked at all. After I saw two more young bucks and a nice doe, which I shot and never recovered.

Tuesday - I went in at 3pm and sat until last light. Only saw 2 does. Passed them up as I was not convinced I lost my doe yet and wanted to still look one more day.

Thursday - I went in at 5:25am. Wind was blowing West which is into their bedding area. I know not smartest move but eh I figured I had to try I was already there. My target 10 came out from the bedding area which was weird to me. He was working a scrape around there. I watched him come into within 50 yards but again behind the same brush he got behind last time except this time was going in other direction. I never had a chance to shoot again. He again left without me spooking him at all.

Saturday - 5:25am again. Wind was blowing from South and he totally surprised me. Came up from behind me which is east side. Then moved up towards the north side of me. I was afraid of being winded, he didn't even seem bothered at all. This side of my stand is all young trees, branches etc. I didn't want to hit any twigs or branches. I was hoping he would work towards his bedding area which would put him in a good place for me. He didn't he decided to turn and go north!!! I grunted. He stopped and started using those antenna like ears. Then continued. I stopped him twice and he kept going. Again no blowing, running nothing. So I can only assume he just was not interested.

Today - went out 5:25am didn't see squat.

All 5 of these sits were in the same tree. My fear is did I maybe burn out this spot hunting it so much? I went through the whole story to explain that the deer kept coming back and never once left startled. So I imagine had no idea I was their. So I shouldn't really be hurting this spot then right? Today on the other hand had about 40mph winds so I wanted to believe that ruined my morning.

Tomorrow and Tuesday I am off and was planning on hunting morning and evenings. Would you guys suggest I back off maybe instead? So I don't make these deer nocturnal for the season? Tomorrow morning is still calling for strong winds, but is supposed to taper off. So really that wind could be all day or even be done before morning.

Assume I can only sit in that spot what would you guys suggest? hunt a different stand? Its so hard to convince myself too knowing the amount of success I have had in this stand. In my part of the country seeing a few deer a season is considered a good season. I've had 8 sightings in 4 sits, that's incredible around here.

I don't think they are spooked. Most deer will not be up moving around in howling wind. They can't hear and they can't see movement when everything in the woods is moving.

I also don't believe in the 'pressure making deer nocturnal' bit. They might change areas or avoid a heavily pressured area or otherwise change patterns but not only move in an area at night.

That being said, if you have other properties to hunt it won't hurt to give it a rest, but I don't think you spoiled the area. The most spoiling you did was tromping around looking for the doe you shot and or hunting the stand with wind blowing in their beds.

Do you or have you ever used scents as attractants?

Yes I used estrous urine every time in that stand.

The weather boys are saying that wind is going to be all day. So I've decided to take a da off from deer woods. And hit the marsh, wind is perfect for ducks.

Tuesday is gonna drop to well below freezing and it's gonna be sunny and calm. Ice on the ground, great day for rutting bucks. All day sit

Tuesday is going to be the day. Anyone who can should try to be in a stand that morning.

Like okie said, I don't believe that you buggered that spot. Hang in there and Tuesday morning you'll get your chance.

Okie, that deer was killed in mayes county on public land not to far from the Delaware county line. He killed him when he was 16. That was 20 years ago. We were supposed to hunt together that day but for some reason I didn't go and went by myself to another spot closer to my house. Deer only weighed 135 pounds which as you know is average here in Oklahoma.

Hey guys I'm back!!! But with no good news. We saw lots of deer on Friday but we were out of position a bit. We adjusted but the deer quit moving like they did on Friday. We did see some deer chasing but mostly small bucks and does. Nothing big.
There was one deer on Friday that was decent size but I don't think that big.

The weather has been kind of warm here still. I agree Tuesday will be a good day, but I don't think it will be as magical as we think it will be.

Saturday starts our firearms season. I think I'm going to hit the big public land but much deeper and much earlier than most. I'm hoping all the hunters push them towards me since I'm entering from private land opposite the public land. We'll see.

It's still early so there's plenty of time left.

Chago, buddy don't overthink it. Go with what you think is right. If you overthink it you start second guessing yourself and hunting becomes less fun and more stressful. Check your pics and experience and just sit where you think you have the best odds. No worries buddy.

Brent - Awesome buck buddy. congrats on the new addition to your wall.

Okie - That deer is a stud. I really hope you get him.

I'll go through in the next day or two and try to make a sheet with our earned points versus our posted points. Then we can nag the guys to get them posted. A few guys last year on our team didn't post a few bucks, hundreds of points. I was pissed but I can't make them do it.
Also, everyone did check in so we didn't get alternatives, and it's too late.
I'll do some work and try to make contact with everyone.

Glad to see you check back in Indy, I was wondering yesterday how it was going.

Well I sent that PM to Fitz to check my score before I posted the pics and score in the score thread but I have yet to hear back from him. I saw where he posted around 7am from his phone in the stand so I guess he'll get to it when he gets back. I'd go ahead and post but sure as I do he'll spot some problem with figures or someone else will and throw a fit and I don't want to go through that again....ever.

I've apparently lost contact with BH1988, have not heard from him in a while so I don't know what the prob is. I don't know why anyone would not post their deer and submit it as a follow through....it's not like it's that big a deal to do.

Well boys he isn't a freak compared to some of the bucks you guys shoot, but he sure is a stud to me! I am very proud of this buck!

We went down to Nebraska last Friday. 5 high school buddies in my camper. 4 of us pretty serious bow hunters. Get down there at 3 am Saturday morning and setup camp. Meet with the farmer the next morning, shoot our bows and start getting ready for a long afternoon sit.

Went out at noon that first night and had one buck come in about 615. Bout a 100" 8 pt and I elected to pass as it was the first night and he wasn't even outside the ears. Good buck tho and was real exciting.

See nothing substantial the next 3 hunts. Small bucks and does. Deer numbers were way less than what we had expected.

Monday night I setup between a creek bottom and a cut bean field...where I could shoot both. Sitting there glassing, reading on my phone, screwing around as it was only 4 something and I hear crunching to my right. Look up and see legs and a tall G2 through the thick leafy tree branch between myself and the field about 40 yards away .....walking right to me. The buck came walking down the edge of the field on a string. I drew, stopped him in my only opening at what I guessed was 30, settled behind the crease and released. Perfect as he was 30 on the dot. Double lunged him with a pass through, and he took off. He ran up the field a quick second and darted in the wood line.

I look up and see him standing there about 40 yds away. Blood is pumping out the exit wound. Splash....splash...splash...... while his tail is flickering. He starts to wobble, falls over, gets back up and falls again. He was down within about 20 seconds after I shot, making it 30 yards total before expiring.

I sat in the tree in shock for about 10 minutes. I was realizing I just shot a great buck/ I was done hunting/ first one to get a buck in our group/ arrow was laying there bloody! Then I started freaking out for a while. I got down after a bit and walked over to him. Amazed. Best feeling in the world!!!

He's posted in the score thread for our team. Few more pics.

Man if the few of us that haven't gotten a buck can connect we could contend for the lead. Pretty crazy to think about considering the number of teams.

If I had to guess he's just been busy. Sometimes it's hard to get to a computer and it sucks trying to get on here from my phone. I'll try to get a hold of them though here tonight.

if Chago will relax but keep his sphincter tight and not crap his pants & soil his stand when he sees the big 10, we'll have another 130 points!
Indynotch needs to go hunt in Illinois or Kentucky apparently...
    copperdog needs a rut buck
