Omfg boys. Just had a 10 point 150" easy. He was working a scrape 80 yards downwind of me. He then started making his way closer to about 50. Then made a small turn and into the bush. Man!!!!!! I was so tempted to shoot. When's my chance gonna come holy. I've seen 4 different tanks on 3 sits in this stand. None want to give a shot. Gonna stick around see what happens.

lol I posted the above an hour ago by accident in contest thread not here. I was excited lol

Ha...well it'll happen sooner or later if you keep after it!

I didn't have any luck this morning either though I have yet to get in a stand this year and not get to watch some deer and that's always good.

Same old story tonight...no big buck down. I picked a new spot and climbed up in an old hedge tree next to one of the cams I never set a ladder stand near.
Was in the tree ten minutes when three does came running through the brush, passed in front of me and hit the bean field. Right behind them a minute later here came the buck, grunting like he was PO'ed and had a deep, grumbly, growly voice. I could see part of his body but not his rack....wouldn't ya know it instead of taking the same trail the does used, he turned on west and didn't walk in front of me. Just before dark another wave of deer moved through south and east of me and none offered a shot through the dense junk in that direction.

Pulled the card in both the cameras on that farm and had Meat Hook on both of them as well as the big wide 8 and the two really nice 9's. Starting to catch some of them in daylight too.

Yeah I think so too, I need to start hunting that farm harder. It's just north about 1/4 mile from the stand over OMG's scrape and I've gotten well over a dozen shooter buck pics (different deer) on the three cameras there.

I also got a pic of a trespasser vehicle at around 3:40am the other morning on the one camera!!!!!! WTF were they doing in there at that hour (or at all) parking? Spotlighting?...probably some of both? New fence going in that property this fall/winter for sure....bastards....

There's a lot of that property I have never set foot on, I need to scout it out better and place more stands in there.

Were they just at the gate or driving around on the property?

No, they were back in the middle of the property. The camera didn't get a good pic of the vehicle, just a front shot with bright headlights and a rear shot of the endgate and rearmounted spare tire. There's another camera on around that road, if they went that far then it probably got a better pic but I didn't pull that card yet. Vehicle looks a lot like a Subaru but the rear mounted tire is a mystery...

Bob, I've had great luck with this Evercalm herd in a stick product and I'm not one to "plug" products all that often. The does that hit the bean field last evening also came across my entrance trail and though they didn't track me back in to the brush...they simply ignored my trail....and they crossed my trail at least twice.

I'm unsure someone would be looking to spotlight a deer from a Subaru. Maybe they were kids just looking for a place to ******.

So did you put the ever calm on your boots? Do you typically put something on your boots before walking in to the stand?

Ah, these dolts around here don't care what they drive to poach deer. I don't think it was kids looking to park, there are two guys in the front of the vehicle and the one on the passengers side looks late 20's or so but who knows.

Yeah I put the evercalm on my boots. I don't generally use any scents of any kind. I do use earth scent scent control products in a spray bottle. Seems to work okay and I like the scent of it myself...I love the smell of fresh soil, lol.

So what's going on with buckhunter1988's score? It's been a while.

I'm trying a new spot tomorrow. Wish me luck! Gonna use Covey's secret weapon and have all the deer follow me to my stand. :nana:

I got an email from him last evening and he said he was going to score the deer himself this morning. I have not heard anything today about it one way or another. I can send him another email I guess and see if he's messed with it yet. He's probably going to get sick of me emailing him about it.

well, the questionable measurements did cause a stink and needs to be resolved. hell, what was the original issue anyway a missing circumference measurement? then people started questioning the entire score?

I assume it is in his possession now if he was going to do it himself.

speaking of which, the taxi called yesterday and said the euro of my buck is done! too bad I'm not planning on being up there until 11.22-23 and I was planning on HUNTING instead of running around during business hours to pick up the skull. I may have to see if he'll be available after dark on sat 11.22...

as side note, I'm going to score my biggest buck that's on the wall this weekend. I've always been chicken to actually tape it... I've never wanted it to be smaller than I imaged... and it's still HUGE in my brain even though it happened in the late 80s...

the pic doesn't give much perspective... the tip to tip spread when he was shot was 20"... I could put my waist inside the beams. I was skinnier then though... 80s gun buck.jpg

he does, doesn't he! his grandkids are still running around up there. I chased that deer for 3 years. rarely seeing him. I just happen to be walking home after hunting all morning one windy day right by where he was bedded that day with 5 does in a big blackberry thicket. He jumped up running straight away from me, head down, hauling *** as fast as he could go... and that's where he got shot with the 35 marlin... in the ***... bullet plowed through his body and came out his head & blew his face off. It was a stupid and impulsive shot, but he went down immediately.

that is not his original cape, obviously...

    wow nice deer!

Ya we need that buck and Cunninghams doe. Does anyone have either of their info? Also don't we have a couple guys not participating? I thought you get alternates for those guys?

I'm out there again tomorrow. We had some snow today, so tomorrow should be a good morning. If I don't catch them walking tomorrow morning, I'll find there shoe prints and follow them into their bedroom LOL won't be the first time!
