What's going on for the week end? I'm going scouting/shrooming! Going to be looking for hen of the woods and chicken mushrooms. I'm going crazy! Bow season starts October 21st here in MA.

Tomorrow morning Ill be out saving airplanes from these pesky Canadian geese and mallard ducks lol. My deer opener is Tuesday but I don't see myself hunting until late October. This season has had crazy weather.

I'm tied up this weekend between marketing pumpkins and a construction job (yeah I work weekends too). Supposed to rain today, if it rains out all work then I need to go pull trail cam cards this weekend. The new ones have been out for a week....would be nice if I have a couple nice bucks on record.

I know I have some bucks here at home now...was looking the beans over here at the house the other evening and found a stomped out spot where two bucks had been in a fight. The little guys don't get into those kinds of scuffles either.

    Good luck!
Well I pulled the cards here at the house and just had the same two small 8's besides a butt load of does and fawns...must be easily two dozen doe/fawn pairs here at home. Still no big boys but the one small 2.5 year old 8 point is going to be a stud in a couple years. He has some stuff going on just above his bases already at 2.5 years old. I believe he'll be at least a ten next year.

We had a good morning. 7 hunters, 90 minutes, 42 ducks. It was our limit.

    That's awesome!

This weekend was pretty low key. Went out and terrorized yuppyvilles last night. Today was the kid's last soccer game. Tomorrow we're going to try to head south to work at the cabin for the day and hopefully picking up a few new arrows on the way home.

Okay...I went and pulled 8 of my remaining 10 camera cards this evening. So far I have worked my way through 3 (!) of them. Holy Crap....there are a butt load of deer on these things. One camera had almost 1500 pics, I figured it was a wind waving weed but this camera is on one of the major milo fields I have and it's the field where I saw one of the two monsters a while back. I think I got the one wide one I saw the other evening on film but can't tell for sure if it's the same one I saw before...can't tell his width for sure but he's a shooter no doubt, probably 6.5 years old pig. I didn't pick out his pic but I got another even better one ......

    Gentlemen...let me formally introduce...

Yeah..I thought he was cool but I love those gnarley antlers. You know all the deer on that rental ground (except that giant I saw the other morning) seem to be pretty light on mass. I just started managing the deer herd on that ground this summer...I have mineral stations set up now and will continue as well as applying lime to the fields and food plots again this fall with winter cover crops. I expect to see a heck of a bump in mass next year.

I didn't get that monster 180+ I saw the other morning on camera.......he must be a spooky bastage.

    Anyone hunting do any good?

I spent the day down at the cabin in southeast Indiana. My uncle owns the property and he is adding on to the cabin. It's freakin awesome, love hunting that place.
Anyways, he said he has a few monsters on cam and a lot more doe action than years past.

I'm planning on being down there the middle of october for the first time to hunt.

Season starts Tuesday but I won't be in the woods till sat morn, oct 5. Re-checked all my gear this morning. Plenty of does and smaller bucks on cam there. I'm pretty anxious & prolly won't sleep well all week... The past few mornings I've been awake at 4:30...

OKay so finally got home this evening and thought I'd post a couple more bucks I got on camera....I appologize for not having any monsters on film but I can't really complain about some of these. I had over 2500 pics on one camera and estimating well over 150 different deer with probably about half of them being bucks and maybe 10-12% of them were over 130" gross. Mostly 8's but some 9's and 10's and a few cool 12+ non-typicals.

Apologize for what!? Man those are some big deer! Any one of them is a wall hanger and I have very high standards!

My season starts tomorrow as well but I don't really put too much time in early. Towards the middle / end of the month, I'll hit it hard.

Haha, yeah those are nice and I have a few more to post yet as well after I dig them up off the CD's I burned the other night. These were just the ones I saved to the PC and were convenient and are probably the best of the lot.

I just really figured I'd have some really breathtaking monsters on film, I know darn well we have several around...I saw one the other morning so I couldn't believe I didn't get at least that one.

But yeah...these are all on my hit list except probably that really freaky last one there I call "Gnarley", I'm not sure he's more than 4 years old and would be nice to let him breed a bit more and maybe gain some mass next year. I have plenty of 5+ olds to chase until then....would love to stick that big SOB I saw the other morning! I swear he made me sit in the truck with my mouth open and holding my face. I wonder if he wasn't visiting from a neighboring property and went back after being spooked that morning.

Indiana starts today. I won't be going out until after work on Friday, simply not time until then. I typically don't hit it too hard until middle / late October. This weekend will mostly to knock the rust off.

I may get out here in a few days for the first time this year. I was in town this evening and bought all new camo and three new ladder stands for the new property. May get a chance to run over and put the stands up tomorrow and it's supposed to cool way down here the next few days with a chance of rain.

    Even got new boots! lol
