Checked my cameras today and put up another treestand overlooking this area and a ground blind near another food plot. These are some of the highlights from this past week, including these two bucks I'll be chasing this fall. They're not the biggest bucks but they're above average for this area. I hope to get a chance at taking one if not both of them come September.

No trail cams for me, just public land and boot leather! There's a ton of deer in these parts though!

Gettin excited now! Went back to the field to glass. Bunch of does and fawns, and when I rolled further down, saw a huge bodied deer! Too far to get a good look, all I saw was rack and giant body! Looked like a monster! Same spot I had an encounter with a big 10 last year.

I am more than likely old enough to be your Father and maybe even your grandfather. Thirty seven years bowhunting if that gives you a hint how old I am )))).

So let me give you guys some insight into how I think you win this contest. DOE's DOE's and more DOE's, those fifty points add up quick. Everyone needs to put a doe down then worry about the bucks. I have watched this contest evolve for many years and the teams who have most if not all of their members put doe's down win. Buck kills added to the total points are running around 60% of all team members.

Of course shoot the bucks when an opportunity arises but with the rule change that a second buck can count as a doe " fifty points", this only highlights the need to get those 50 points for that one doe you can shoot. Just my two cents worth. Remember that your first buck killed must be entered as a buck kill.............only your second buck can be entered for the fifty points, so make your first buck a good one))))).
