I haven't seen hide nor hair of anything since then. I took today off tho, I was a little under the weather after last night lol. Then tonight I had dinner with the family so I didn;t get a chance to go out. Right now is our doe only season which kinda sucks but I can hunt a different zone that doesn't have it if need be. Good Luck out there!
I believe mathewshooter's season opens up tomorrow as well so we have another member in the game. Good luck with your opening weekend! I'll only be getting a couple hunts in this weekend because I'm going to U of I to visit some friends and celebrate another 21st bday, but hopefully I can make the best out of my opportunities.
I won't be able to hunt until Tuesday of next week, then the following weekend things will start to pick up for me in the hunting game.
No luck for me this weekend. Saw a spike and 4 does but no shot opportunities.I'll be hunting a 3 day weekend starting friday so hopefully I'll put something down. The big ones aren't moving much yet.All of my hunting buddies have only seen small bucks so far.
well guys it is starting to heat up here i think. the leaves are coming off fast and once thats done it usually kicks in so I'm looking forward to the next couple weeks especially for the couple night i might be sick not able to go to work!!! I just saw that shultzy might have gotten one but doesnt think he put the best shot on it but I wish him the best of luck with that, cuz hes a beast so good luck to him especially and to everyone else!
Thanks huntwi, Bob, Brett for the text messages and whoever else I missed. I had a good number of text messages flooding In this morning, hope I replied to everyone. If not I apologize. Damn near guys, but just didn't close the deal this time. He was a great buck, specially for the area I hunt In. A guy just don't get chances like this all to often In this part of Minnesota where I hunt but as all of you know though that's bow hunting for ya If you do It long enough. Gr8 (Bob) had some very nice things to say In his post to me In my thread, thank you Bob. Meant allot!! Best of luck to everyone else.
Schultzy! Keep at it buddy. The good hunting is just starting up. I know it was tough to swallow not finding that buck, but I am sure you will have a crack at another one. I went out today and for the 5th straight hunt, I did not see a deer. I hunted large point and specifically a little bench on the side of it. I found three large rubs right off the bench. About 5 minutes before sundown I heard the familiar crunch crunch crunch....I could not see it yet I knew "it" was 10 yards away behind a large pine tree. I held full draw then "it" materialized into 10 turkey! My adrenalin levels were max pumped! Hahaha, dang turkey.
haha virginia, had the same experience bought 2 weeks ago right away at first light but it was about 6 coons.....my herat sank to say the least!
Man Schultzy that really sucks! I've been there man. Amazing how you can go from the highest of highs to lowest of lows. I wounded a buck 5 years ago, and still cannot fathom how he did not die. I didn't hunt after that til gun season because I felt so sick. Going back I wish I would've kept my head up because it is part of the game, it happens and you gotta move on. Get out there bud! Hope luck is on your side and he survives until he walks by you again
Sorry to hear about the loss Steve. I was really hoping for a good end to the story. All you can do is keep your head up and keep on truckin. I will be heading home tomorrow afternoon but wont get home early enough for an evening sit. I am thinking about switching things up a bit because I have yet to see a buck from stand. I am hoping the leaves start falling off soon so I can actually see deer movement from more than 40 yards away.
well with the rain that came from that way they should be fallin brandon. I checked my cameras this morning which was on a scrape and got a pretty nice buck although the pic i got of him i could only see half the rack but he looks nice. he hit the scrape just before shooting light in the morning but they are calling for rain all weekend here so....
Thanks for the kind words you all, appreciate It allot. Went back out yesterday and did another search for this buck In spots that he was bedding In last year, nothing. I also checked my trail cams that I have out, no pics of him on there either. I'm still not sure If this buck lived or died yet. I really need a confirmation picture, track, or a sighting real bad, bugging the hell out of me something fierce!!! I may start hunting early next week again, I figured I'd let the area settle down after tromping around in It on and off since Monday night. October 24th of 2007 I shot my 140" 8 point pictured below, rattled him In. A person can shoot bucks In October, ya just gotta get out there. Good luck all!!!
Guys, the next 3-4 days should start producing some cruising...lower temps, rain ending, wind switching from S to N/NW...here we go!
Are you lady killers done feeling sorry for yourselves and knitting each other warm sweaters? LOL.... Get em guys!
I still haven't gotten my sweater yet... I could use a good insulating layer. I'll be keeping an eye out for packages arriving.
Good luck this weekend boys! looks like snow in the mornin, so i'm hopin I can catch a buck on the prowl. noticed a bunch of new rubs today but nothing too spectacular. They're around somewhere tho!
