Thanks copperhead. The stands that I have do have the rail option so I will be sure to leave them off.

Anyone doing any last moment work to prepare for the season? This weekend will be my final card check and trim one more set of shooting lanes then next Tuesday its off to Colorado and wont get back till after the opener here so this week is my last chances to prep for the whitetail season.

Ladder stands are great once you get them set up. Easy in and out like copper said. Make sure you get it set firm, that way it won't squeak and pop, which is one downside. The other is trying to set it up yourself. Good luck

Need to figure out a good way to wrap the edges of my hang on to help prevent any metal to metal clinging. Last season on one hunt i swung it off my shoulder to hang and it hit the ladder. I still cringe at the thought of the sound in the quiet pre-dawn woods. Almost went home.LOL Almost.

Try wrapping a small diameter paracord real tight around the edge it helps with no banging noises and in the dark u can feel it as the edge of ur platform threw ur boots.

I hung a new ladder stand in a new spot that I thought I'd like but the tree is leaning and has a bump RIGHT where my back goes. It was getting dark and needed to help my brother in law move his stand so I didn't get a chance to move it. I found a different tree in the area and have another backup spot if it doesn't work out. So I'll save that for my next trip over. I also put out a mock scrape that has had success the past few years. I really worked up the ground good with a pitchfork this year. I put the trail cam on it and look forward to seeing what visits. I'm not sure if I will be going back next week but Labor Day I plan on going back for sure. Just 1 or 2 more visits before season starts!

I'm always tweaking something. Whether it be bow, camera or other equipment. One of these days I'll learn just to leave it alone.

Zip tie foam pipe insulation around the edges. That what they use on shooting rails.

Hoping to have the last of the foodplots planted by this weekend along with the last few stands hung and trimmed. Season will be here before we all know it! Definitely had that smell in the air this morning. Woke up to 49 degrees :)

Guys im bummed out. over the weekend my buddy i was going to Colorado with for a DIY elk hunt just told me he sent his Unit 54 archery draw tag in for a refund because he is not going to be able to go. this was my first elk hunt and i have been dreaming about it all year. and i have till friday to put my tag in the mail for a refund. ive been talking to a cousin of mine about getting a tag for that unit if they have any leftover tags and meeting up with me but he hasnt giving me a strait answer yet and time is ticking. i have a feeling im going to have to refund my tag. and hope for next year unless i can find someone either whilling to let me join them or be a guide.

I have to finish up some food plots this weekend and hang a couple ladder stands that I just got, also have to check my trail cameras to get a quick check of the inventory. Then it's just shooting the bow and any last minute fine tuning...

Going to check a couple cams today at lunch. Hopefully a couple of the big boys will be on cam.

Was bored today and decided to dry doing some dipping of a few old skulls I've had laying around. Thought it looked pretty cool.
