This weekend resulted in the passing of several 1.5 year olds. One is gonna be a stud I think. He is big bodied and very muscular for his age. But then again he should be he has been eating alfalfa pellets all spring and summer.

If any one heads out this week good luck and be safe!!

Had a decent weekend. Seen a decent number of deer but the only ones to give me a shot were two fawns so they got a pass. The mature does stayed out of range.

Hung a couple new sets for my time off coming up next week. Hoping to catch one of the hit listers cruising and checking scrapes. Weather looks good the next two weeks so hopefully I'll see good movement.

Nice job CJ! All my deer are still nocturnal and only a few does are stopping through on their way back to the stand. I had engine issues with my truck that cut this past weekend short.

So I was wondering if you guys could give me a little advice on a situation I'm trying to deal with. Since I filled my buck tag on Saturday in WI and we don't try to shoot any does on out private land till late season, I don't really have any hunting to do. Except I just got permission to hunt a farm in Illinois that is across the WI border by about 1000 yards. I shot one of my turkeys there this year and saw a TON of deer while hunting and the old scrapes and rubs are absolutely everywhere. Apparently the guy that usually deer hunts hasn't shown up or contacted the landowner all year and he called and told me I was allowed on for deer just a few days ago. My problem is an OTC non resident buck archery tag is NOT cheap by any means but a doe isn't bad at all. Would you guys just kind of forget about it till maybe next year or fork over the money and go for it. I put out cameras earlier this week and am checking tomorrow to see if I got a pic of something that would convince me to spend the money then play it from there.

I was thinking about posting to the main forum but figured I'd ask my team first.

By no means are you expected to spend a bunch of money for out of state license/tags unless you truly want to. That is completely up to you and if you want the additional meat or if you just love to hunt. But don't do it just for the team or the competition.

On that note, I am taking a vacation day tomorrow and hitting the stand! :woot:

I'd fork over the non-res tag money and hit the stand. With the rut movement now and coming up, you never know what might show up.

Get em' jerry. Im headed out tomorrow afternoon and then all day Saturday. I'm gonna save my Pinch stand till next weekend if the weather stays the way it is. It's killing me to stay out. Heart sick feeling just thinking about it.
