The amount of large bucks already down is mind boggling.

So a guy on our team stuck a hog. It's to late for this years contest, But who would think it was Ok to enter a hog for your second deer? 50 pts for a pig? We have none in our area, however I no they are a nuisance for many farmers! What say you all?

I say its a deer contest. Most of us probably don't even have an opportunity at a hog.

Id be ok with any "large game" counting as a bonus, and even turkey being worth 5 or 10 points

I wouldn't be for it, could you imagine if a team won by having members submit their elk, sitka, bear, turkey, coyote, pig or whatever other kill.

I think it would take away from the contests intent and probably push people away.

I think the 2nd buck counts as 50 was a good example of modifying the contest to accomodate buck only states.

A bit of rambling here, after thinking about it....

Wouldn't even be against a similar clause that allowed your first doe to count as 75 points but you couldn't enter a buck for more than a bonus 50. Would have to declare the doe first.

It would deter people with a shot at a buck from entering their first doe, maybe even put a date deadlinepre-rut on entering one to keep from sandbagging, but would also help anyone that might be in an area where bucks cannot be harvested that might not join otherwise.

    No kidding Ty.
It's amazing some off the score sheets that have been posted. The pictures are terrible and the score sheet looks like something from our tax lady.
It would be nice if they could, at least, put what measurement goes with which number.

LOL....I used to try to help and simply now keep mouth shut for most part....folks givin nearly 2 inches to brows that aren't even an inch...there's been countless threads to assist with this including stickies. Shoot I made a thread one time with tons of photos and scores just to give folks an idea if their score looks outlandish or not.

Fitz notices more than he misses though...but I really think captain duties should include okay'n buck score entries before posted in the scorecard personally....another set of eyes typically can notice things rather quickly (atleast the obvious stuff).

In the end everyone has "richard" issues and add a 1/2 inch here and there just to make their buck "sound better"

I totally get it. I try to look at all of the entries that we turn in. I scored the one I shot this year 3 times just to make sure that I didn't miss anything or add too much. I'd much rather short myself than have someone question how I got to where I was at with the score.
There is one that really seems "odd" to me. I just can't put all of the numbers with the pictures. It is one heckuva deer, but I'm just not sure where all of the numbers belong.

Ha, thanks. No worries, I hoped that was what happened but I was afraid I failed to include something simple or something in the score post. Congrats on your buck, he's a dandy.

    @mikido

That is for a yearly contest held on the site. Just for bragging rights, sharing hunts and help pass the slow times of the season.

FYI, Fitz listed the score on my Team 16 buck @ 152 5/8ths, but I entered it at 142 5/8ths. Our team total is correct at 192 5/8ths so it doesn't really impact our overall score. Just don't want to be accused of not knowing how to measure! :)

It's funny when I tell a lot of my local friends what my bucks score (people around here think all solid 8pts are 120"+). In reality they don't know what it takes to even break 100" (which is right around where most of my bucks fall +/- 5". I'm fine with that.

Yup...some think I've shot tons of 140s looking at pictures....sadly not one broke that yet. One just shy but nope. Guys are kidding themselves for what? Humorous every year.
